Information Technology Systems Director – ITS DEPARTMENT
Job Overview
The
ITS Director
leads a team of Information Technologies Staff (IT) in various areas of Development, IT Security, Infrastructure, and Support for all employees of the International Union, UAW, including Regions and satellite offices. Job Description Key Duties & Job Responsibilities include: Oversee all IT operations. Lead an experienced team of ITS staff. Design and implement IT strategies and infrastructure. Identify and eliminate security risks. Analyze business requirements for IT needs and systems. Set goals and project plan expectations for the IT Department. Evaluate IT operations regarding organizational goals. Communicate within the IT team and across departments as needed. Assess the need for new equipment and software. Direct and oversee IT support needs for events, training, and conferences. Direct and oversee IT support for various department needs such as Strike Assistance. Present recommendations for current and future IT projects. Maintain technical quality in operating environments through monitoring and implementation of solutions. Stay relevant with the latest industry trends and technologies. Manage upgrades and maintenance & support of the company's IT infrastructure. Work with the IT management team and staff on implementing IT policy and best practice guides for the organization. Maintain confidentiality of any UAW related information. Understand the UAW’s function and protocol. Assist & coordinate communication with various departments as needed. Be available to assist as requested on any special projects, assignments or events that involve International Union, UAW staff members including instances outside of normal working hours and location. Know, interpret, and apply organizational policies, procedures, and protocols. Retrieve information quickly, utilizing internal and external data resources. IT Director Qualifications/Skills: Sound understanding of computer systems, networks, security, telecommunications, databases, and storage systems. Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and projects. Solid working knowledge of all relevant coding languages and security protocols. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Team-oriented. Job Qualifications, Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in information technology, information systems, computer science, or related field (graduate degree a plus). Minimum eight years’ experience working in IT operations. Minimum three years’ experience overseeing IT teams and projects. Certifications and continuing education preferred. Knowledge of information security standard processes, patch management, vulnerability remediation, and incident response. Ability to effectively communicate with team members on a technical level. Strong oral and written communication skills, including time management. Ability to multitask efficiently, meet deadlines & complete administrative projects. Cloud migration experience a plus. Possess administrative and organizational skills & programming experience. Previous experience working in an organized labor environment preferred. Commitment to confidentiality and discretion. Highly motivated and a self-starter. Note: This position is a full in-office role.
