Dimensional Process Engineer, Body in White

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Body in White Dimensional Process Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this hands-on role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the utmost quality and precision of our Body-in-White (BIW) components through process optimization, tooling adjustments, and fit and finish enhancement. Your expertise in dimensional control, GD&T, and cross-functional collaboration will be instrumental in elevating our manufacturing processes and achieving superior fit, finish and BIW quality across the production line.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, manufacturing, controls, maintenance, quality) to conduct root cause analysis and address dimensional discrepancies through effective tooling adjustments
- Lead initiatives for tooling and process optimization on long-term projects to improve body component accuracy, repeatability, and overall quality
- Maintain alignment with the build plan by resolving issues, optimizing processes, and ensuring smooth cooperation with GA and fit and finish teams
- Utilize expertise in tooling and process dynamics to make adjustments that enhance component precision, repeatability, and fit quality
- Partner with quality teams to identify and resolve part-level issues affecting assembly quality, leveraging dimensional control knowledge to support production goals
- Lead hands-on validation and verification of tooling, ensuring that jigs, fixtures, and gauges meet dimensional standards
- Conduct measurements on tools, components, and assemblies using advanced equipment (CMMs, laser scanners) to ensure dimensional accuracy
- Drive KPI improvement efforts by optimizing tooling and processes, collaborating closely with quality teams to meet performance objectives
- Create and maintain documentation, including measurement plans, SOPs, and work instructions, for dimensional control and process optimization
- Mentor technicians in daily activities, providing technical guidance on tooling validation, measurement, and adjustments to ensure accuracy and quality standards
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience (3 years) in automotive BIW engineering, emphasizing dimensional control, root cause analysis, tooling adjustments, and process optimization for underbody and upper body components
- Proficiency in GD&T principles, measurement techniques, and CATIA for designing and modifying tooling
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of designing jigs, fixtures, and gauges to improve fit and repeatability
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes related to sheet metal forming, assembly, and welding, with a focus on achieving exceptional fit and finish results
- Analytical mindset with the ability to decipher complex measurement data, enabling the identification of patterns and trends
- Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes linked to sheet metal forming, assembly, and welding, with an unyielding dedication to superior quality
- Excellent communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and stakeholders
- Keen attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to delivering uncompromised quality
- Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal

$76,000 - $126,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
