Process Engineering Technician, SX, Body in White

Tesla is looking for a highly motivated, goal-oriented Engineering Technician to contribute to implementing Lean Principles, control process and quality control system in Model S/X body in white. The Engineering Technician will Perform supporting activities for Engineering and Manufacturing including 5S and Lean Manufacturing activities, yield improvement, scrap reduction, production line configuration, cost savings and safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist process engineers in developing and deploying efficient processes to optimize the overall operation regarding associates, equipment, material requirements, and information to achieve an optimal state
- Collaborate with management and cross-functional support teams to identify process constraints and execute solutions accordingly
- Provide daily coverage of production line processes to ensure smooth and effective operations, including rapid response to out-of-control processes to minimize quality cost and maximize productivity
- Work closely with Process Engineer(s) to develop assembly processes and author manufacturing instructions
- Document results of investigations and teardowns; determine root cause and define acceptable rework procedures
- Report out daily on non-conformance activities, including scrap, rework, on hold, and new incoming failures
- Working knowledge of 5S principles, Work Measurement, JIT, Continuous Improvement, Process audits, gap and flush measurements, sensors installations, data collection, trials, and Problem-Solving Methods
- Understands the definition of Cycle Time, and Lean concepts
- Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
- Methodical problem-solving skills with a hands-on and proactive approach
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio. (Basic CAD skills and 3D Print preferable)
- Experience working with hand tools and power tools
- Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal

$30.50 - $51.73/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
