JOB DESCRIPTION

The HR Generalist is responsible for managing daily HR operations, including conducting New Hire Orientation, assisting with benefits administration and Open Enrollment, handling various Leaves of Absence such as short-term disability, FMLA, and ACA, and processing payroll. The HR Generalist ensures compliance with company policies and practices, supports employee inquiries, and assists in resolving HR-related issues. This job description is not all-inclusive and may be modified by management as needed.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead recruitment activities, including creating job postings, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and managing the hiring process.
  • Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and they have a smooth transition into the company.
  • Assign 3-month, 6-month, and annual performance reviews for Supervisors and Managers to conduct with their teams and provide support as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records for all employee leaves of absence, ensuring compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
  • Address employee inquiries regarding benefits, 401(k), ADP portal usage, payroll, and more.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns, handling conflicts and issues with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Provide timely responses to Department of Labor unemployment forms and requests, verifications of employment for former employees, and participate in Department of Labor mediations as necessary.
  • Manage employment-related events such as performance counseling, verbal write-ups, and terminations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and state and federal guidelines and mandates.
  • Assist employees in transitioning to Medicare by providing guidance on eligibility, enrollment options, and timelines to ensure informed decisions.
  • Administer the process for Safety Glasses/Shoes, providing necessary forms and answering related questions.
  • Assist with the planning of annual company events and fundraisers.
  • Assist with the weekly processing of company payroll using IBM and the ADP portal system as needed.
  • Pursue necessary training and professional development to enhance current skills.
  • Generate HR reports, analyze data, and conduct audits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the HR Manager.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn other company systems and benefits portals.
  • Strong work ethic; able to maintain good attendance.
  • Possess strong public speaking skills, with the ability to confidently present information, lead training sessions, and address groups of employees effectively.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • High School or equivalent
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience in an HR generalist role.
  • HR Certifications a plus

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years working in an HR Generalist or HR-related role.
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and procedures, with experience in benefits administration, recruitment, and employee relations.
  • Proficient in using ADP for recruitment, employee records, and other HR functions.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, and ACA compliance.
  • Experience using ADP and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with benefits enrollment processes, including Medicare and other employee benefit programs.
  • Proven ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Experience handling employee inquiries, resolving conflicts, and providing effective solutions to HR-related issues.
