Peraton is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented
Technical Project Engineer
to join our government aviation program. The successful candidate will manage and lead engineering projects from inception through completion, ensuring the technical success and timely delivery of mission-critical aviation systems. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and project management, to support aviation communications systems and technologies, ensuring they meet operational, regulatory, and technical requirements. Examples of duties include but not limited to: Lead and manage the technical execution of aviation communications engineering projects, ensuring adherence to technical specifications, schedule, budget, and quality standards. Work closely with engineering teams (communications, avionics, systems) to define project requirements, develop detailed technical plans, and ensure successful integration and implementation of systems and technologies. Coordinate with stakeholders, including government, military, and contractor teams, to ensure alignment on project objectives, scope, and deliverables. Oversee and manage the design, development, integration, and testing of aviation systems, ensuring they meet mission requirements and adhere to safety and regulatory standards. Develop and maintain project schedules, tracking progress, identifying risks, and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery. Provide technical expertise in communications systems, ensuring solutions are compatible with existing aviation infrastructure, secure, and optimized for performance. Lead project meetings, provide regular status reports, and present technical findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards, including military and aviation communication requirements. Assist with the preparation of project proposals, cost estimates, and risk assessments, ensuring that all engineering deliverables meet the required quality and budgetary constraints. Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving for engineering challenges, particularly in communications systems, to ensure projects stay on track. Support OCONUS operations as needed, providing project engineering expertise in challenging and dynamic environments. Stay up to date with emerging technologies in aviation communications systems, ensuring the program incorporates cutting-edge solutions to enhance mission success. Required Skills: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical Engineering or related field). Minimum of 8 years of experience in project engineering, with a focus on communications systems, avionics, or aviation engineering. Proven experience managing technical projects, including overseeing design, integration, testing, and operational deployment of complex systems. Experience with project management methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, or similar frameworks, to successfully lead cross-functional teams. Knowledge of aviation systems and infrastructure, with the ability to integrate communication systems into aircraft, UAVs, or related platforms. Experience with engineering project documentation, including technical specifications, risk assessments, test plans, and progress reports. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience supporting government or military aviation programs. Experience with integration testing, system performance evaluations, and troubleshooting in aviation environments. Experience working with OCONUS deployments and field operations in diverse environments. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar project management certification is a plus.
