JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Department of Biomolecular Chemistry (BMC) at the School of Medicine and Public is looking to hire a full-time Administrative Assistant. The position will serve a vibrant and friendly, basic science department in the School of Medicine and Public Health. The person will be a resource for new employees and trainees, provide support to faculty and coordinate academic activities, strengthen alumni relationships, and perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair. This position will also serve as the campus curriculum representative. The ideal candidate will embrace personal accountability to meet tight and critical deadlines and take initiative to support department academic related goals and priorities. Responsibilities: Provides general administrative support, while exercising discretion, to the administrator of a department or division of the institution or to the administrator of multiple institution programs, services, and activities. 25% Schedules logistics and secures resources for meetings, conferences, travel, and work unit operations 5% Serves as a primary point of contact for individuals and groups, provides organizational information via phone, in person, and through other communication mediums 20% Prepares and audits complex records, edits documents, and reviews work done by others 15% Develops, sends, receives, copies, and distributes communications to the appropriate entities according to established policies and procedures 15% Develops, implements, and maintains methods and organizational systems directed at the maintenance of electronic/physical records related to work operations according to established policies and procedures 5% Provide content updates to Department website, particularly faculty research descriptions and course information 10% Assist faculty and staff with e-reimbursements and travel as needed 5% Provide backup coverage to other members of the Biomolecular Chemistry Administrative office staff Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison.
