This position supports CalRecycle IT Budgets and Procurement unit in the budgeting and purchasing of IT goods and services to ensure delivery of technology solutions to our stakeholders and employees that are secure, reliable, and right-sized. The Student Assistant will perform a wide variety of support related to IT purchasing, budgeting, and invoicing. As such, the incumbent typically performs a variety of recurring, well-defined tasks requiring occasional, innovative problem solving within guidelines and a scope that may encompass one or more units, functions, or processes.

This is a non-testing classification; no exam is needed.
This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position's designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense.

Working Conditions The incumbent works on the 19th floor of a high-rise office building in downtown Sacramento, in an enclosed, non-windowed office cubicle in a smoke-free environment. The work schedule is Monday through Friday. Mandatory overtime, including evening and weekend work, may be necessary during the year-end closing process or when the department is mission-tasked. Travel may be required locally and within the state.
The job requires extensive use of a personal computer and the ability to sit/stand at a desk, utilize a phone, and type on a keyboard for extended periods. Ability to lift 15 pounds, bend, and reach above shoulders to retrieve files and/or documents.
