JOB DESCRIPTION: IT Administrator
Reports To: Director of Facilities
Salary Band: Band A- Full Time (40 HRS)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary role of Gateway Center's IT Administrator is to oversee and maintain all aspects of a company's computer infrastructure. The GWC IT Administrator is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of the organizations desktops, computer systems, servers, and data security systems. The administrator ensures that internal IT structure of the enterprise remains up-to-date. This includes maintaining networks, servers and security programs and systems. The IT Administrator will manage the upgrade and installation of new hardware and software, perform troubleshooting to address any problems with computer systems, and assess viruses and potential threats to a company's network. The IT Administrators will also monitor the use of email, create and change passwords, make suggestions for improvements to computer systems, printers, and backup data and perform data recovery if needed.
It is essential that the IT Administrator possess strong communication, organizational and problem solving skills. To ensure success as an IT administrator, the candidate should possess extensive experience in IT administration and the ability to optimize the performance of our IT infrastructure. An accomplished IT administrator will be someone whose technical expertise results in enhanced IT system efficiency across our agency structures. The candidate should also possess the ability to work independently as needed, manage contractual relationships, and apply analytical skills are crucial to finding success in this field.
Qualification:
BSc/BA in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline; professional certification (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)) is a plus
Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role
Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
2+ years setup, configuration, troubleshooting of hardware and software (Windows and Mac OS)
Experience working with O365, SharePoint and Office 2016
Some knowledge of TCP/IP networking, and related network services (i.e. DNS, SMTP, DHCP, etc.)
Some knowledge of Active Directory concepts and administration
Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
Certifications, such as CompTIA A+, desired
Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
Excellent communication skills
Flexibility (may require some evenings and weekend work)
Principle Accountabilities:
Install and configure software and hardware Manage and monitor network servers and technology tools Set up accounts and workstations Document issue resolution using the agency ticketing system, document knowledge base and other articles in SharePoint Upgrading, installing and configuring new hardware and software to meet company objectives. Implementing security protocols and procedures to prevent potential threats. Performing diagnostic tests and debugging procedures to optimize computer systems. Documenting processes, as well as backing up and archiving data. Developing data retrieval and recovery procedures. Designing and implementing efficient end-user feedback and error reporting systems. Keeping up to date with advancements and best practices in IT administration. Set up and configure printers, scanners, and other peripherals Maintain and troubleshoot audio visual equipment Maintain inventory of all hardware and software resources and parts Maintain excellent communication with all end users and other members of the technology department Work with outside vendors as needed Maintain and complete documentation for invoicing and service requests Set up, maintain and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OS computers, as well as iOS devices in a networked environment Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements Troubleshoot issues and outages Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies Submit monthly reports to supervisor Participate in staff development and all required Agency meetings Other duties as assigned
