Director, HR Business Partner

NextStep Recruiting is seeking an experienced Director or HR Business Partner to support a client with a strong focus on employee relations. This role will include resolving grievances, conducting investigations, and guiding leaders on performance management strategies such as Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs). It will also oversee workforce planning, employee development, compliance, and policy management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions in alignment with company policies and employment regulations.
  • Conduct investigations, document findings, and offer recommendations to mitigate legal risks.
  • Partner with leadership on employee decisions and workforce planning strategies.
  • Support the development of leadership capabilities to enhance performance management and employee relations.
  • Identify trends to recommend training and development opportunities.
  • Maintain compliance with employment policies and oversee updates to the employee handbook.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Employee Relations or HR Business Partner roles.
  • A bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
Skills & Abilities
  • Expertise in conducting investigations and creating detailed documentation.
  • Proficiency in coaching, performance improvement plans, and workforce planning.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations (ADA, FMLA, etc.).
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
