Job Responsibilities

Administrative Specialist II

The Department of Administration's Division of State Agency Support Services - Surplus Property is seeking an Administrative Specialist II to join our team. We are in growth mode, and it is an exciting time to be a part of our State Surplus Property Services! The Surplus Property Office manages the sale, distribution, and disposal of personal surplus state property and federal government property to government agencies, qualified non-profit entities, and the public. In this role, you will perform financial/mathematical and administrative functions in support of Surplus Property's mission.

Responsibilities of the Administrative Specialist II:
  • Operate as the main cashier and receptionist for Surplus Property. This will include greeting and directing customers to the appropriate place to handle sales transactions and directing all incoming calls to the appropriate person.
  • Ensure cash box is properly maintained and balanced each day.
  • Check the Surplus Property Office payments email box and process all online payments.
  • Create bills of sale for online auctions.
  • Perform other related duties such as filing, cross-training, and typing correspondences, as needed to support Surplus Property's mission.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma or GED.

Additional Requirements:
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices and two years in an administrative capacity.
  • Employee will need good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Needs administrative experience with a PC and have experience with Microsoft Word and Excel software.
  • Ability to perform mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others.
