Sr. Chemical Engineer

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Chemical Plant Process Engineer to lead and optimize processes in the production of emulsion-based polymers. This role requires a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles, process optimization, and a focus on safety, efficiency, and product quality. Key Responsibilities:
  • Process Design & Optimization: Lead the design, development, and optimization of chemical processes for the production of emulsion-based polymers, ensuring high product quality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Investigate process-related issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve overall plant performance.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, and establish best practices for maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Process Scale-Up & Development: Work on scaling up new processes from the laboratory to full-scale production while ensuring consistent product quality and efficient use of resources.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with production, quality control, and maintenance teams to ensure seamless operations, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Use Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies to identify and implement process improvements that enhance productivity, reduce costs, and minimize waste.
  • Technical Support & Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and plant personnel, sharing knowledge on best practices and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Collect and analyze process data to generate reports, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and present findings to management for decision-making.
  • Project Management: Manage projects related to process improvements, new technology implementations, or plant expansions, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field (required).
  • Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field (preferred).
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in chemical process engineering, with a focus on polymer production or similar processes.
  • Experience with emulsion-based polymerization processes is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of process optimization and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.
Skills & Competencies:
  • In-depth knowledge of chemical processes, including emulsion polymerization, reaction engineering, and heat/mass transfer principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply process simulations and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with process control systems (DCS, SCADA) and experience with process modeling software.
  • Expertise in safety and environmental regulations related to chemical manufacturing processes.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in using process design and simulation software such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or similar tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor and collaborate with diverse teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification.
  • Experience with new product development or process scale-up in the polymer industry.
