At Healthcare in Action, we serve patients experiencing homelessness through an innovative "street medicine" approach by contracting with Medicare and Medicaid health plans as well as hospitals and health systems.

Street medicine entails using a medically equipped van to deliver medical care directly to people experiencing homelessness in locations such as parking lots, encampments, and parks.

Reporting to HIA's CEO, this position will be responsible for managing the financial activity of the organization, including but not limited to tracking cash flow, analyzing strengths/weaknesses in the organizations finances and overseeing all aspects of the Finance, and revenue cycle departments including but not limited to month-end closing, account reconciliation and profit and loss reporting.

This role will oversee all accounting activities and related audits, fixed assets, accounts payable processing ensuring all reporting requirements submitted on a timely basis and provide meaningful reporting of operations - including analyzing revenue (grant and billing), healthcare cost, and utilization trend, year-end 1099 reporting, 990 reporting, and integration of strategic expansion opportunities.

Guide and collaborate with business leaders to provide analysis on strategic initiatives, develop insightful suggestions, and assess the economic return for Healthcare in Action.

Responsibilities include:

Directs and participates in the development of accounting and internal controls policies and systems. Continually evaluate accounting practices, reporting procedures, record keeping and implementation of internal controls, as needed. Responsible for preparing and reviewing the monthly financial statements and presentation to management and the Board of Directors, as needed. Additionally, provide assistance to department heads and managers in analyzing and interpreting financials data and reports and in presenting that information to their departments. Main contact for all internal and external audits: including retirement plan audit, financial audits, single audits, and any regulatory audits. Ensures that accurate information is provided on a timely basis and assists, as needed. Coordinates and controls the organization's cash and investment management activities and compiles the necessary justifications for funds requested, as needed. Develops the annual budget, forecasting and modeling for the organization. Monitors expenditures to ensure operations are within the budgeted allowance and communicates any variances to management. Regularly examine alternative methods of providing required financial services to reduce departmental operating costs. Demonstrates effectiveness in pulling together all the necessary information needed to compare revenue and expenses and determine the organization's financial position. Effectively maintain all required records for the department; demonstrates good organizational skills. Meet deadlines in a timely manner and have the ability to flex hours when needed. Maintains regulatory requirements, including all federal, state, local regulations and accrediting organization standards. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations. Assigned as a check signer for the organization. Reviews all general ledger account reconciliations monthly for accuracy. Responsible for ensuring that grant accounting and reporting is in accordance with uniform grant guidance. Completes HRSA Financial Reporting for grant programs in the EHB; Responsible for HRSA grant drawdowns and grant reporting in the Division of Payment Management. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications and experience:

Bachelor's Degree required Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required 10+ years progressive management experience within finance and accounting GAAP and financial management level experience. Knowledge of fund accounting for non-profit organizations Knowledge of computer principles and applications of business and accounting functions, including internal control procedures Demonstrates clear knowledge of the organization's clinic structure, standards, procedures and protocols Knowledge of Uniform Grant Guidance (UGG) Requirements Maintains a professional relationship and positive attitude with co-workers, the public, patients and all staff, Board of Directors, and vendors. Consistently demonstrate the ability to establish appropriate departmental priorities. Maintains the highest professional ethics and is honest in dealing with people; is a model for all employees through their actions.
