LOCATION: Newington, CT. This is an in person role. Not hybrid. Not remote

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

SUMMARY:

Network Engineer is an onsite position responsible for providing excellent customer service to our employees, as well as supporting Data Mail’s networks, firewalls, wireless network, remote access, backups, DR, and security infrastructure. The Network Engineer will also assist in supporting in-house systems, desktops, servers and peripherals running on Windows platform. The Network Engineer will also install, diagnose, repair, maintain, and upgrade all hardware, software, and services, while ensuring an optimal computing environment for the business users.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Act as an escalation point of contact for Desktop Support staff.

Maintain a high degree of customer service and adhere to all service management principles.

Take ownership of layer 3 and 4 network problems, and be proactive in finding resolutions.

Coordinate with vendors and support to resolve issues within the network

Train and guide Desktop Support staff.

Work on network projects as directed by Management.

Assist in technical upgrading and maintenance of network devices and appliances.

Install, support and maintain hardware and software infrastructure according to best practices, including, but not limited to routers, switches, Wi-Fi controllers, firewalls, servers and PC’s.

Diagnose and solve issues, often under time constraints. Adhere to all established Business Service Level Agreements

Monitor network usage, anticipate problems and suggest or implement solutions.

Assist in the development of guidelines and procedures for administration and security best practices.

Maintain network documentation and procedures.

Participate in an on call schedule for off-hours support of key systems. (Rotating weekly schedule)

Remain current on emerging technologies via professional groups, internal and external training, independent research and study, and other avenues available.

Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

COMPETENCIES:

At least 8 years of experience, or 5 years of experience with a college degree in Computer Networking, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields of study.

Certifications in Cisco networking, Microsoft, and/or VMWare ESX preferred.

Excellent technical knowledge of network and PC hardware, including workstations, desktops, switches, routers, firewalls, and peripherals.

Thorough experience with Microsoft Exchange/O365, Active Directory, SQL, SharePoint, IIS, and Office products; how they are designed and supported in an enterprise environment.

Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technologies and products, independently using documentation and on line resources.

Manufacturing industry vertical experience preferred.

Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Highly self-motivated and directed.

Team-oriented and the ability to effectively work within a collaborative environment.
