The
Research Financial Analyst
(RFA; Research Administrator) will work under the general supervision of the Lead RFA (Research Administrator). This RFA will track financial activities within the DGIM Academic Office at Mount Zion. The incumbent will track several individual faculty accounts, which will include, but are not limited to, faculty discretionary funds, private contracts, and small sponsored funds, and is responsible for serving as the faculty's single point of contact for their accounts, ensuring faculty are provided with quality, efficient, responsive, and responsible financial administration services.
The incumbent will facilitate the process of administering funds for faculty by reconciling expenses against approved budgets, generating projections based on actual expenditures, preparing the fiscal closing reports and final reconciliation of costs, troubleshooting over-expenditures and appropriation issues, working with faculty on financial management issues, and other duties as assigned. For each approved/awarded fund, the FA serves as a liaison between the Departments, faculty, fund agency, and other institutions to provide support as needed and ensure effective communication. The incumbent is also expected to provide back-up support to the research administrative team for the management of other sponsored funds.
This incumbent must be knowledgeable of cost accounting standards and have a basic understanding of financial accounting. Additionally, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for assisting with Award Verification, BearBuy, MyExpense, petty cash handling, journals, funding entries, and salary cost transfers for the division.
***NOTE: This is a Hybrid role, requires being onsite.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
