Exempt Summary:
The Deputy Director of the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) & Deputy Title IX Coordinator works closely with the Executive Director to manage all functions related to investigation and resolution of discrimination complaints by faculty, staff, and students. This role ensures compliance with federal and state laws, and NMSU policies regarding unlawful discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and sexual misconduct. The position requires the performance of highly responsible and complex professional duties, and the design, development, and management of specialized programs for NMSU's equal opportunity, Americans with Disabilities Act accommodations, and Title IX programs. The Deputy Director reports to the Executive Director. Classification Summary:
The Deputy Director of the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) & Title IX Coordinator manages all functions related to investigation and resolution of discrimination complaints. This includes ensuring compliance with relevant laws and NMSU policies. Classification Standard Duties: Assist the Executive Director in management of all operations of the OIE Office including supervision of employees and budgetary responsibilities. Serve as the University's Title IX Coordinator including all aspects of intake, investigation, response, and resolution of reports of sexual misconduct. Provide oversight and guidance to all OIE employees in conducting EEO and Title IX investigations. Utilize available data to identify patterns or systemic problems related to diversity & inclusion, equity, and sexual misconduct. Provide training and awareness programs as needed for students and employee groups. Collaborate with various University offices and groups on Title IX and equal opportunity issues. Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency: Required Education: Master's degree in a related field. Required Experience: Three (3) years of professional experience in one or more areas of expertise required for this position. Equivalency: Bachelor's Degree with five (5) years relevant experience in conducting investigations related to equity, discrimination, or compliance. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge:
Relevant law and compliance regulations under Title IX, Title VII, other federal and state non-discrimination laws, and ADA. Skills:
Investigative techniques, analysis of evidence, report writing, policy formulation, and conflict management. Abilities:
Communicate analysis and information accurately, manage employees and budget, and engage in collaborative efforts on equal opportunity issues. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
