Job Title: Respiratory Therapist II - Nights Job Specialty: Therapeutic Treatment Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: 0-2 years of clinical experience with a minimum of 6 months in critical care required License: Registered Respiratory Therapy license Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) Must-Have: - Ability to communicate effectively - Strong critical thinking skills - Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with physicians and other health care professionals - Proficiency in computer skills, including familiarity with databases - Excellent customer relations, assessment, and communication skills Job Description: - Responsible for medication administration and implementing respiratory care based on expanded knowledge, experience, and the evaluate-and-treat process - Deliver patient care in complex, multiple problem-patient care situations, primarily in critical care areas - Engage in protocol ventilator management with significant independent decision-making and self-direction - Provide patient, family/support system education and coordination of activities - Participate in staff development and professional and self-developmental activities - Address biological, emotional, developmental, and psychosocial needs of patients and families when providing care - Participate in the education of new employees and others - Complete patient care, documentation, and education while promoting a team-oriented and positive work environment - Perform patient assessment and therapy planning in collaboration with healthcare team members - Verify orders and administer aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, volume expansion, oxygen, and medical gas therapy - Manage ventilators, including weaning, interpreting waveform graphics; conduct airway management, including intubation, extubation, trach tube change, and care - Perform arterial blood gas sampling and analysis - Educate patients and mentor new employees, students, and peers - Assist in invasive and non-invasive procedures, cardiac service procedures, and pulmonary diagnostic testing - Promote the use of current and accurate electronic orders, charting, and charging - Support patient safety and performance improvement initiatives, promoting evidence-based practice - Review revised and new departmental procedures and policies - Other duties as assigned - Comply with all policies, standards of work, and code of conduct
