Our primary manufacturing facilities include multiple sites in Houston, TX and employ 700+ Operations employees.

We are currently in need of an experienced Production Manager for our Houston manufacturing site(s).

Job Overview

The Production Manager will be responsible for assuring that the assigned production area is operated on the most profitable and efficient basis and with the correct level of quality. Responsible for maintaining the safety of the area, scheduling assignments, line balancing, evaluation and control of build, monitoring of fulfillment of customer production and quality requirements, control of scrap and rework, efficiency, application of overtime, and documentation of these activities. Acts as primary contact for in-house departments for production related issues in assigned area. Directly supervises the area production managers and supervisors.

Description

  • Direct area production managers and supervisors in the plant and coordinate production work through familiarity with all manufacturing processes. Maintain a continual awareness of safety, quality, efficiency, scrap and production schedules.
  • Motivate and direct the training of production supervisors. Train and develop individuals, instill in them a sense of responsibility, and evaluate them on their progress.
  • Analyze and determine staffing requirements. Study daily operating results, meet daily with subordinates, and consult with supervisors on solutions to production problems. Ensure that problems have been corrected. Maintain cooperation between departments.
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed by all manufacturing personnel. Inform the employees of deficiencies and violations and take corrective action, if necessary, to ensure that procedures and practices are being followed. Provide Safety training on a continuous basis.
  • Focus on delivering key customer results in the areas of quality and delivery performance.
  • Ensure correct distribution of staff and assist with training for all new or transferred employees. Coordinate temporary staff requirements.
  • Participate actively as a key member of the operations management team.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships, which contribute to a positive results-oriented climate.
  • Lead 5S activities throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement activities and perform lean training for the production personnel in the assigned area.
  • Drive formal problem-solving methods on the production floor with production personnel to drive a culture of continuous improvement and quality, control scrap and rework, and provide quality product to the customer.
  • Evaluate and authorize the overtime requirement for production employees.
  • Assist in the mediation of personnel problems and conduct disciplinary action when required.
  • Monitor customer production requirements and coordinate schedule adjustments when required.
  • Monitor and ensure documentation of employee attendance records.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred:
  • Experience in sheet metal manufacturing environment
