The Study at Johns Hopkins is currently seeking a Night Auditor to provide genuine hospitality and the highest quality of service to our guests. This position will be responsible for overnight operations of the front desk while balancing entries and records of financial transactions under the direction of the Guest Service Manager and in alignment with brand standards.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide the highest and most efficient level of hospitality and customer service expected by our guests.
  2. Complete the guest check-in and check-out processes, which includes assigning guests their rooms and facilitating payment.
  3. Maintain room inventory of vacancies, reservations, and assignments.
  4. Courteously answer inquiries and accept reservations, both in person and by telephone, by accurately communicating hotel rates and information and by using suggestive selling techniques to sell room nights, increase occupancy, and revenue.
  5. Coordinate with all departments of the hotel to manage guest requests, as well as answer general guest inquiries about the hotel and the surrounding area.
  6. Attend to guests' needs and requests, including setting up and scheduling wake-up calls and outgoing taxis, making restaurant recommendations, resolving billing issues, and complaints.
  7. Regularly calculate and/or post charges, receipts, cash payments, and other forms of credit using accurate, proper cash handling methods and established procedures to present the customer with timely and precise hotel charges upon check-out and maintain accurate hotel records.
  8. Responsible for rolling the hotel’s PMS system forward to the next business day, balancing and auditing the system for accuracy, and transmitting credit card reports.
  9. Perform accordingly to the company handbook in regard to policies, procedures, and regulations.
  10. Act as the Manager on Duty during the early morning hours.
  11. Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Fundamentals

  1. Ability to maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.
  2. Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  3. Experience: At least 1 year of Night Audit experience preferred.
  4. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  5. Intermediate computer skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  6. Flexibility to work any shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  7. Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
  8. Proficiency in English required. A second language is desirable.
  9. Strong organizational skills including follow-up, time management, ability to multi-task, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  10. Ability to positively communicate and interact with all hotel departments.
  11. Ability to grasp, lift, and/or carry, or otherwise, move goods weighing a maximum of 50 lbs.
  12. Ability to stand for long periods of time indoors with a thematically climate-controlled workstation.
