A law firm seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join its growing legal team in Phoenix, AZ. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a recent law school graduate or early career attorney to gain valuable experience in immigration law. Duties:
- Provide strategic legal counsel to clients, explaining immigration law concepts and crafting tailored solutions.
- Represent both detained and non-detained individuals in immigration removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
- Manage a diverse caseload of immigration cases, ensuring deadlines and court requirements are met.
- Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at various detention centers, providing initial legal consultations.
- Prepare and file immigration applications, including those related to family-based petitions, removal defense, and various forms of humanitarian relief.
- Review immigration documents, making necessary adjustments and ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to stay informed on changes in immigration law and policy.
- Meet with prospective clients to assess their immigration needs and develop appropriate strategies.
- Assist in the preparation of clients and witnesses for immigration hearings, including USCIS interviews and court proceedings.
- Perform legal research and analysis to identify potential benefits for clients' cases.
- Draft and submit legal briefs and other documents related to immigration matters.
Requirements:
- 0-3 years of experience in immigration law, with a focus on immigration hearings and petitions.
- A collaborative mindset, ready to work with colleagues and share knowledge to help develop legal strategies.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred but not required.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple cases and manage a caseload efficiently.
- Familiarity with case management software is a plus.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Active bar admission (or pending admission for recent graduates).
Skills:
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to manage client relationships and communicate effectively about complex legal issues.
- Knowledge of immigration law, including family-based petitions, removal defense, humanitarian relief, and USCIS applications.
- Proficiency in case management software is preferred.
