VMAC has an opening for an Associate Director of People and Culture (P&C). This role provides leadership to support the coworker team achieving organizational objectives for VMAC. Responsibilities include the development training for the VMAC leadership and coworker team, performance management system, compensation systems, and disability claim management. The Associate Director of P&C works as a strategic partner with VMAC's leadership team and will be responsible for organizational development, advising on all aspects of the company people and culture programs. Reporting to the Director of People and Culture, or President in their absence, the successful candidate leads the day-to-day P&C activities and ensures processes are in place and supportive of VMAC's strategic growth initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for overseeing and aligning the P&C systems, policies and processes for overall coworker journey such as: recruitment, orientation, supervision, performance management, recognition, promotions and offboarding supporting the corporate culture and growth plans.
  • Develop and manage the development of leadership through focused development strategies and training including talent and performance management.
  • Developing the skills, knowledge and career development of the P&C team.
  • Ensures compliance with all legislative, labour laws and Health and Safety requirements (federal and provincial).
  • Anticipate and identify emerging issues, trends, new developments, challenges and opportunities that affect the policies and P&C programs of VMAC.
  • Identify and address issues that impact the overall health and culture of the organization including morale, engagement, effectiveness, turnover, absenteeism and productivity.
  • Review and update group benefit programs and serve as primary contact with service providers.
  • Support the implement, design and management of compensation plans.
  • Provide P&C updates and information to the Board of Directors on a periodic and ad hoc basis.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the P&C team budget.
  • Provide direction and support to leadership for coworker related issues and human resource planning.
  • Discover new ways of attracting top talent and manage succession planning.
  • Develop and analyze measurable reports for P&C KPI and proposed initiatives, reporting to leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Responsible for training and overseeing conflict resolution.
  • Participate in ongoing personal development and continuous learning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in a related field such as Business Administration or Human Resources.
  • CPHR designation preferred or MBA in HR field.
  • Minimum of 10 years' working experience; a combination of Business and Human Resource Management experience is considered an asset.
  • 5 years of Human Resources experience in a management role required.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing leadership training, performance and compensation management systems and programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage HR core processes such as talent management, succession planning, and employee relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments, key business partners, and employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet strategic objectives for HR and the organization.
  • Sound leadership, team management, and teambuilding skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement personnel related legislation including British Columbia labour laws.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound business decisions and evidence-based recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills with Microsoft Office required.
