SUMMARY We are seeking a General Ledger Accountant position ensures all business transactions have been properly accounted for accurately and reflected completely on the Company's books. This position works closely with Payroll and Bookkeeping. BASE WORK LOCATION - Position is based in the Hunt Valley, MD office location. Position classification is "Hybrid" in Office on Tuesdays and occasionally other days may be required as needed. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES Identifies daily activity in bank accounts. Reconciles several different bank accounts for several different Corporate entities Posts journal entries in the Company General Ledger Accounting software package Prepares and distributes 1099s to vendors Tracks and maintains fixed asset ledger by coordinating with Accounts Payable Prepares schedules for reporting of fixed assets Assists with the preparation of other reports provided to Management Assists with year-end audits Assists with the preparation of month-end financial statements, cash flow statements and budgets Assists with quarterly and annual tax filings Performs day-to-day bookkeeping processes including but not limited to recording all business transactions in terms of purchases and sales, cash receipts and disbursements, Payroll and other Accounting entries Reviews Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable vouchers. Prepares and controls the monthly Accounting closing schedule. Reviews the purchases and sales journal and the cash receipts and disbursements journal Calculates and records depreciation, amortization and depletion Determines costs of goods sold and inventory balances Reviews the trial balance Analyzes and reconciles accounts Reconciles bank accounts Prepares information required for internal management reports and external reporting Performs duties associated with budget control and variance analysis Compiles information and prepares schedules required by internal and independent auditors. Prepares tax returns. Performs other duties as assigned EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration 5 years of experience in Accounting or Finance General understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) Experience with financial/accounting software programs such as Microsoft Dynamics Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills Ability to work as individual contributor as well as team player Proficient verbal and written communication skills Excellent organization and time management skills and must be extremely detail-oriented Demonstrated ability to handle multiple high priority items at the same time Preferred Experience and/or Education: MS Dynamics experience; Wagering and gaming industry experience; Knowledge of horse racing, pari-mutuel wagering, gaming, sports wagering and/or social marketplace industries OTHER INFORMATION: This position does not have supervisory/management responsibilities.
