Apex Systems is seeking a Principal Electrical R&D Engineer to join our client, a global leader within the medical device industry. This is a full-time, direct hire role with the client. It will be onsite in Maple Grove, MN. The Peripheral Interventions Hardware R&D team is looking for an experienced electrical engineer with extraordinary potential to apply their expertise in the definition, design, and test of low-power / high-reliability electronics in the development of active medical capital equipment. As a member of the electrical hardware design team, you will make important contributions to the development of first-of-a-kind, life-changing medical devices through the design and testing of electronic circuits for therapy delivery, digital communication, sensor interfaces, power transfer, and power management. As a Principal Engineer, you will have the opportunity to own and drive portions of the design while being part of an experienced design team providing significant technical and career growth opportunities. Your responsibilities include: Designs, develops, debugs, modifies, and tests electrical circuits and systems by using current tools, analysis techniques, and technologies. Solves engineering problems by analyzing the situation and recommending corrective or alternative actions. Investigates, researches, and selects electronic circuits, components, tools, and equipment using best practices. Documents electrical development by writing procedures, reports, memos, and change requests. Tracks electrical development effort by creating and maintaining records in Jira and other approved tracking management tools Provides clear communication to stakeholders at key technical updates to facilitate crisp decision-making. Develops novel improvements to products or processes resulting in expansion of the company's Intellectual Property portfolio in key strategic areas. Works cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing on complex projects to ensure project success. Trains and/or provides work direction to technicians and other engineers. In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to all documented quality processes and procedures. Minimum Qualifications BS in Electrical Engineering or related field 9 yrs of Electrical Engineering experience with Bachelor’s degree, or 7 yrs with Master’s Experience utilizing EMI/EMC best practices for board-level circuit design using Altium and or similar packages Solid lab experience with debugging, fixtures, and test equipment. Expertise in circuit design analysis techniques and simulation tools such as LTSpice Experience with medical device industry or highly regulated industry Ability to work onsite at our Maple Grove, MN facility Preferred Qualifications Experience with medical device electronics and systems Experience with communication protocols and transceiver module integration Experience using electrical engineering analysis techniques to map high-level requirements into circuit specifications Familiarity with signal processing concepts, experience with LabView and/or Matlab Experience using Python for automation of simulation and data analysis Experience with firmware debugging, digital logic, and FPGA development Ability to solve complex problems with root cause analysis, including designing and executing experimental plans and using statistical methodologies to drive data-based decisions Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources. Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills. Ability to work independently to plan, schedule, and execute activities necessary to meet project timelines
