Overview: The Superintendent plays a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day onsite construction activities, ensuring that work is completed safely, on-time, in a quality manner, and within the set budget. This role includes hands-on management of staff and coordination with vendors and suppliers, as well as maintaining safety, quality and schedule on the job site. Key Responsibilities Site Supervision: Oversee and manage the construction site, ensuring adherence to project plans, building codes and safety regulations. Supervise and coordinate subcontractors and workers, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources and labor. Maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment. Monitor work progress and ensure it aligns with project timeline. Project Coordination: Attend project hand-off meetings to become familiar with project scope, budget, labor needs, timelines and critical path items. Collaborate with Project Managers and General Superintendent to ensure that project goals are met. Manage a three week look-ahead schedule. Coordinate the scheduling of subcontractors, suppliers and deliveries to avoid delays. Track long lead time items and ensure that appropriate on-site storage is planned for equipment and materials in a 4-5 week look-ahead. Resolve any conflicts that arise on-site between workers, subcontractors, or between different trades. Ensure all materials and equipment are available on-site and that the work is progressing according to the project schedule. Host weekly or bi-weekly meetings (depending on project needs) with subcontractors to review safety, schedule and coordination to ensure that contractual obligations are met. Review Requests for Information and required Submittals with the Project Manager. Quality Control: Develop and implement quality control programs and inspections. Ensure that all work complies with drawings, specifications and applicable building codes. Perform regular inspections of construction work to verify that quality standards are being met. Address quality control issues as they arise and enforce corrective measures. Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and ensure workers are following OSHA standards and Southtree’s Safety Manual. Ensure that posted safety regulations are followed by everyone on site. Conduct regular safety training sessions and inspections to prevent accidents and ensure safety on-site. Address safety concerns immediately and ensure proper reporting of incidents. Hold weekly safety meetings utilizing Procore. Documentation and Reporting: Utilize Procore software for documenting meetings; maintaining daily log books for personnel, weather, delays, etc.; notifying subcontractors of delays; reviewing drawings and submittals; documenting progress with photos. Work with HB Next on monthly job site inspections. Ensure all change orders are approved by Project Manager prior to subcontractor work. Review/approve labor crew timecard entries daily. Qualifications Education: High School diploma. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field preferred. Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of comparable experience or similar role. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of structures, finishes, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building management systems. Knowledge of sitework preferred. Proficient in Procore or similar construction management software. Certifications: Current safety certification. Communication and Leadership Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Ability to manage and organize resources. Experienced leader and team player; able to collaborate effectively with others. Strong problem-solving skills. Adaptable and flexible. Working Conditions Willingness to be available during non-standard hours when necessary to coordinate staffing or for emergencies. Physical ability to perform supervision tasks, including standing, climbing, and driving as needed. Possess valid driver’s license and good driving record. Job site dress code requires steel toed shoes/boots, long pants, hard hat, and safety vest. Able and willing to travel to jobsites throughout Metro Atlanta; Columbus, GA area; Macon, GA area; potentially out of state. Meal per diem and lodging reimbursement provided when commuting to job site is not reasonable as agreed by direct supervisor.
