Job Details



We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Accounting Manager to join our nonprofit organization in the healthcare sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and providing financial guidance for the organization’s operations. This individual will play a key role in maintaining compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, managing financial reporting, and supporting the budgeting process. The Accounting Manager will work closely with the finance team, leadership, and program managers to ensure the organization's financial health and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Oversight:

Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting principles and industry standards.
Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
Ensure that all accounting transactions are recorded accurately, timely, and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and nonprofit regulations.
Accounting Operations:

Supervise daily accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
Manage general ledger entries, adjustments, and month-end close procedures.
Monitor financial transactions, ensuring proper documentation, authorization, and accounting treatment.
Compliance & Internal Controls:

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as nonprofit-specific financial requirements (e.g., 990 filings).
Develop, implement, and monitor internal control procedures to safeguard assets, ensuring accuracy and transparency in all financial activities.
Support preparation and coordination of the annual audit with external auditors.
Collaboration & Team Support:

Provide financial insights and recommendations to leadership and department managers to support decision-making and program implementation.
Train, mentor, and support junior accounting staff, ensuring the team adheres to best practices and develops professionally.
Work closely with other departments to allocate resources efficiently and track program expenditures.
Grant Management:

Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of restricted and unrestricted funds, including grant revenue, expenses, and compliance with grantor requirements.
Prepare financial reports for grantors and assist in the preparation of grant proposals.
Process Improvement:

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and streamline accounting operations.
Stay updated on changes to accounting regulations, nonprofit standards, and best practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or advanced degree preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role, preferably within a nonprofit or healthcare organization.
Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, fund accounting, and relevant tax laws (e.g., IRS 990 and other nonprofit filings).
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or other financial management platforms).
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of healthcare-related financial issues (e.g., billing, reimbursement, and compliance) is a plus.
