Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team at [Company Name], a leading manufacturing company. The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in managing financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting the overall financial health of the company. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, strong analytical abilities, and experience in manufacturing accounting processes. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing general ledger activities, financial statement preparation, cost analysis, and budgeting.

Key Responsibilities:

General Ledger Management: Oversee and maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts, ensuring proper accounting treatment for transactions in compliance with company policies and GAAP.

Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statements), analyzing variances and providing actionable insights to management.

Cost Accounting: Work closely with the production and operations teams to track and analyze manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, overhead, and inventory. Assist in cost allocation and variance analysis.

Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, collaborating with department heads to gather relevant data, ensure budget compliance, and assess financial performance against targets.

Internal Controls: Maintain and improve internal controls over financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with corporate policies, financial regulations, and industry standards.

Month-End and Year-End Close: Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of financial results. Coordinate with external auditors for year-end audit and financial review.

Inventory Management: Monitor and reconcile inventory records, ensuring accurate valuation and cost of goods sold (COGS) calculations.

Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation of tax filings, including sales tax, property tax, and income tax, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to accounting processes, systems, and workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Team Leadership: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff, ensuring high performance and professional development.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior accounting role in a manufacturing environment.
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP), financial reporting, cost accounting, and internal controls.
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (advanced).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work cross-functionally with other departments.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with ERP systems is a plus.
