This position has a pay rate of $100,000 to $105,000 annual salary.

Job Responsibilities The Senior Director is responsible for the comprehensive fundraising activities, strategies, and results in west Michigan, specifically the Grand Rapids Programmatic Hub. The role will build and manage a personal portfolio to achieve annual personal revenue raise. The role also manages the west Michigan team of corporate, special events, and major gifts specialists, leading the team’s ability to reach overall Fund Development annual revenue goals. The Director is responsible for fostering strong relationships with new and current individual, corporate, foundation, and community partners in west Michigan. The Senior Director will oversee coordinated team donor identification, solicitation, and stewardship efforts and implement innovative strategies to acquire, engage and retain donors. The Director will set clear objectives, use data, and encourage a growth-oriented team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Work with the Chief Growth Officer, the Executive Director, and west Michigan program leadership to understand the organizational and program needs and strategies.

Cultivate and successfully manage a personal portfolio to achieve $300K+ revenue goal.

Plan, lead, and assure implementation of strategies to develop Grand Rapids’ donors and contributions in support of the organization.

Maintain active membership and participation in key community networking and leadership organizations, events, and conferences.

Coordinate the implementation of the new Corporate Partner Program with corresponding special corporate events and donor receptions/tours/presentations for west Michigan.

Ensure that fund development is carried out in keeping with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

Partner with Strategic Business Communications and Programs in implementing Development campaigns.

Job Qualifications Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification

Bachelor’s degree in philanthropy, communication, business, marketing, journalism, or related field of study or equivalent experience preferred.

Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification preferred.

Experience

Seven years’ experience in non-profit fund development roles including major gifts and corporate giving preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Proven success in meeting and exceeding fundraising goals in the Grand Rapids’ community.

Ability to effectively lead staff to meet organization and department objectives.

Ability to effectively manage multiple and complex projects.

Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Ability to read, write and speak fluent English.

Possesses the capability to investigate and resolve complex issues.

Ability to relate effectively and work interdependently with all levels of staff, and with the general public.

Knowledge of and ability to use with sophistication, computer software such as Microsoft office programs and Raisers Edge.

Additional Work Requirements

Automobile travel required. Valid unrestricted driver’s license with good driving record.

Extended and evening hours often required.
