Job SummaryThe Personnel Commission announces a PROMOTIONAL recruitment. This recruitment is only open to current classified employees. Probationary classified employees may apply but will not be able to be certified for final interview until probationary period is completed. This will result in the establishment of a Promotional list for classified employees who are currently employed by the district in other positions. This list will be used to fill current and future vacancies and will be active for one year or until canceled. There is currently ONE position open in the Maintenance Department. This is an 8 hour/day, 12 month position. Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform skilled painting work in protecting and decorating the surfaces of buildings, furniture, and equipment. This may involve other skilled maintenance activities on occasion.Requirements / QualificationsTraining and Experience Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and three years of varied experience in the painter trade at the journey level. License Possession of a valid California driver's license. Knowledge of Methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of assigned trade. Methods of preparing surfaces for painting and repainting. General safety practices and procedures. Occupational hazards and safety precautions appropriate to the trade. Computer and mobile device operations. Oral and written communication skills. Record keeping and report preparation techniques. Interpersonal skills requiring tact, patience, and courtesy.Ability to Proficiently use tools, materials, and equipment related to specific trade. Repair and maintain buildings and related structural facilities or equipment. Erect and work from ladders and scaffolding. Work independently from general instructions. Guide the work of a crew. Handle a variety of work orders and complete work on schedule. Perform heavy manual labor. Work from plans and specifications. Operate a computer, mobile devices, and assigned software. Monitor and respond to requisitions in a computerized work order system. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Understand, follow, and carry out oral and written instructions. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
