Boundless Life Sciences Group is a full-service advertising agency, built from the ground up to meet the evolving needs of modern healthcare brands. We are looking for a full-time Director, Digital Strategy (pharmaceutical agency experience mandatory. No data scientists or project managers).
The Director, Digital Strategy will play a hands-on role in the strategy and execution of digital marketing strategies. This individual will take charge of delivering high-quality work by implementing and optimizing digital and omnichannel campaigns. The Director, Digital Strategy will ensure successful execution across all client accounts, aligning strategies with client business goals while driving measurable results. This position will be integral to managing day-to-day strategy, and execution, while fostering collaboration across the agency's teams to achieve integrated solutions. The Director, Digital Strategy will be supported by the project management team with regards to timeline, routing, and med/legal submissions.
The Director, Digital Strategy will be directly responsible for the hands-on execution and delivery of digital strategies, specifically for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries. This individual will drive the implementation of client strategies, digital, and omnichannel campaigns. The Director, Digital Strategy will oversee projects from conception through to delivery, ensuring campaigns meet client goals. In addition, the Director, Digital Strategy will be responsible for mentoring and managing strategy staff underneath them, fostering a high-performance team culture while ensuring successful project outcomes and strong stakeholder relationships.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Digital Innovation:
Execute digital marketing strategies for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device clients, with a focus on hands-on tactical work across digital and omnichannel marketing. Collaborate with internal teams, providing hands-on support to assist team members with the delivery of key deliverables as needed, to meet client objectives. Ensure strategies align with client business goals, addressing industry-specific nuances such as HCP referral patterns, OPDP 2253 submissions, medical and legal reviews, EMR/EHR data integration, HIPAA, PII compliance, and more. Deliver digital solutions that meet quality standards and client goals, fostering innovation within both the agency and client solutions, and driving high-impact campaigns that achieve measurable results. Execution of Healthcare Strategies:
Implement hands-on execution of digital strategies that address healthcare-specific challenges such as patient compliance, HCP engagement, and stakeholder response, among others. Leverage data sources such as EHR/EMR, ICD-9/ICD-10 and CPT codes, and HCP/patient journeys, to develop and refine omnichannel strategies (note, this is a strategy position and not a data analyst position). Stay up-to-date with the latest digital platforms and technologies to ensure strategies are tailored to the needs of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device sectors. Collaborate with internal and client teams to implement data-driven strategies, ensuring alignment with the client's healthcare marketing goals. AI-Powered Campaign Optimization:
The Director, Digital Strategy must be familiar with generative AI technologies, such as ChatGPT and/or other generative AI technologies (experience with prompting and creating preference patterns are a plus). Identify opportunities to leverage AI for research, optimization within client campaigns, targeting, segmentation, personalization, and overall campaign efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the agency to optimize content delivery and enhance company-developed AI-driven products and services offered to clients. Maintain a deep understanding of digital platforms widely used in the healthcare industry, and continuously investigate and recommend new platforms that can advance the agency and enhance the services offered to clients. End-to-End Campaign Execution in Pharma and Biotech:
Oversee hands-on management of omnichannel digital advertising campaigns, including agency partners responsible for our social listening, social media activation, SEO, and websites analytics. Must have an understand of Google Analytics 4 (GA4), programmatic advertising, and CRM platforms, ensuring proper execution and optimization. Leverage data analytics to optimize campaign performance, improve targeting and segmentation, analyze campaign data, generate insights, and produce client presentations to inform strategy and next best actions. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, GDPR, PII, FDA guidelines, med/legal compliance, and 2253 submissions, while maintaining privacy standards and ethical AI use in all campaigns. Performance Tracking and Data Insights:
Develop and implement KPI frameworks to track the performance of digital campaigns across all channels, ensuring alignment with client business objectives. Use advanced analytics to optimize SEO and CRM/omnichannel campaign performance, among others, to drive better targeting, response, and improved ROI. Closely collaborate with agency's SEO, social, media, and analytics partner to generate detailed reports and insights from performance data, delivering actionable recommendations to clients through presentations and strategic reviews to optimize future campaign efforts. Team Collaboration and Project Delivery:
Work closely with internal teams, including creative, medical, and marketing departments, to align strategic initiatives with the agency's overall goals and client objectives. Fostering collaboration across departments and business units. Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to promote team cohesion, drive project success, and ensure timely delivery of client deliverables. Team Development and Mentorship:
Mentor and develop junior staff, ensuring they stay at the forefront of digital marketing, AI technologies, and healthcare industry trends. Foster collaboration across digital, medical, marketing, and creative teams to ensure project success and seamless execution. Promote continuous learning within the team by encouraging skill development, knowledge sharing, and innovation in digital and AI strategy. Client Engagement and Support: Engage directly with clients, providing strategic insights and updates on campaign performance, fostering strong relationships, and ensuring the successful execution of digital strategies. Identify opportunities for organic growth within client accounts by understanding their evolving needs and offering solutions that align with their business objectives. Collaborate with the Senior Director, Digital Strategy to develop new business and organic revenue growth opportunities and strengthen the agency's presence within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device sectors. Qualifications:
6-8 years of experience working in a pharmaceutical marketing agency, with hands-on involvement in developing digital and omnichannel strategies for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device clients (experience with generative AI and prompting a plus). Strong experience in developing and executing campaigns across omnichannel platforms, including social media, SEO, programmatic advertising, CRM systems (e.g., Veeva, Salesforce Marketing Cloud), and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, SimilarWeb, SEMrush). Note: this is not an analyst, content manager, or media position. Ideal candidates will understand how data flows in and out of these systems, how they integrate with, and inform one another, and have the ability to direct agency partners. Experience with healthcare industry regulations, including HIPAA, FDA compliance (e.g., FDA 2253 submissions), and the unique challenges of patient and HCP engagement in highly regulated environments. Proven ability to manage and mentor teams, with strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
