Database Engineer Responsibilities:

Design and develop relational database schemas, data models, and data pipelines. Implement performance-tuning strategies and optimize SQL queries to ensure high availability and scalability. Work with security features such as

PostgreSQL RLS, encryption , and

HIPAA-compliant data protection protocols

to safeguard sensitive healthcare data. Configure and maintain relational (Postgres, MySQL, Oracle) and non-relational (MongoDB, Redis) databases. Develop and manage large-scale data ingestion systems in big data environments. Leverage

graph store technologies

like

ArangoDB, Neo4j , or

Amazon Neptune

to model complex healthcare and defense datasets. Collaborate with software development teams to improve application performance and data workflows. Conduct

ETL processes

and enterprise search capabilities to streamline data access. Troubleshoot database performance and proactively identify issues with data pipelines. Stay updated on industry best practices and trends to enhance database architectures. Mentor team members and foster collaboration across engineering teams. Qualifications:

SQL Expertise:

Experience managing relational databases like Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server. NoSQL Knowledge:

Hands-on experience with MongoDB, Redis, or other NoSQL platforms. Graph Database Proficiency:

Experience with

ArangoDB, Neo4j , or other graph store technologies to model and query relationships in healthcare and defense datasets. Technical Proficiency:

Familiarity with Linux environments and dynamic SQL concepts. Security Focus:

Understanding of database security best practices,

HIPAA compliance , encryption, and data access controls. Problem-Solving:

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve database performance issues. Communication Skills:

Ability to clearly articulate technical solutions and collaborate effectively across teams. Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications such as

AWS Certified Database Specialty

or

Oracle Certified Professional. Experience with

ETL tools and frameworks. Proficiency in scripting languages such as

Python, Java, or Ruby. Familiarity with

big data technologies

like Hadoop, Spark, and Amazon EMR. Knowledge of

healthcare-specific systems

such as

Epic, Cerner, or HL7 interfaces. Expertise in

graph analytics and visualization tools. Knowledge of

Database Engineer

Salary Range: In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $90,000 - $111,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work, skills, certifications, and geographic location.

Required Education: 1+ years of database engineering with a Bachelor of Science degree OR Associate degree with 2 additional years beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree OR a High School Diploma with 4 additional years beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Staff Database Engineer

Salary Range: In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $112,000 - $150,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work, skills, certifications, and geographic location.

Required Education: 8+ years of database engineering with a Bachelor of Science degree OR Associate degree with 2 additional years beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree OR a High School Diploma with 4 additional years beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Principal Database Engineer

Salary Range: In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $150,000 - $228,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work, skills, certifications, and geographic location.

Required Education: 12+ years of database engineering with a Bachelor of Science degree OR Associate degree with 2 additional years beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree OR a High School Diploma with 4 additional years beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Clearance Requirement:

This position requires the ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance. To be eligible for clearance, US Citizenship is required, and an employee must agree to participate in a background screen and credit check.

Relocation:

This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
