Position Title: Senior Staff Accountant
Reports To: Accounting Manager/Controller
Location: Dallas, TX
Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role will also assist with month-end and year-end close processes, prepare financial statements, and support the accounting team in various financial tasks. The Senior Accountant will work closely with other departments to ensure proper financial tracking and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
    • Prepare and review monthly financial statements.
    • Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
    • Ensure that financial reports comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • General Ledger Maintenance:
    • Oversee and maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts.
    • Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
    • Post journal entries and ensure that all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Month-End & Year-End Close:
    • Lead the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
    • Prepare and assist with year-end close, including audit preparation.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure all financial data is accurate and complete.
  • Tax Compliance & Filing:
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
    • Assist in managing tax audits and preparing supporting documentation.
  • Collaboration with External Auditors:
    • Assist external auditors with their work during audits.
    • Prepare audit schedules and provide requested information.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
    • CPA or other professional accounting certification preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 4+ years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a senior accountant role.
    • Experience with general ledger and month-end closing processes.
    • Experience with accounting software.
Skills & Knowledge:
    • Working knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (intermediate skills preferred).
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Detail-oriented with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
Working Conditions:
  • Full-time position, with the possibility of occasional overtime during peak periods.
