Position Summary: Provides assistance to Tribal members applying to receive educational and tuition assistance services; coordinates processing of applications and tuition payments. Maintains professionalism in all interactions with internal and external customers. Honors and represents the mission, vision, values of CIT. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Responds to incoming telephone calls and emails regarding tuition assistance services and programs, ensuring professional telephone and email etiquette. Assists students with application process; receives and reviews applications for completeness. Submits applications for committee review; communicates application progress, changes, and successful submission to clients. Processes students term tuition payments. Establishes, maintains, and updates files, databases, records, and/or other documents. Works with Communications Department to create flyers, presentations, and other materials. Assists with preparing reports for Tribal Council or other stakeholders. Keeps leadership informed by reporting findings; participates in staff meetings as needed. Assists in conducting program surveys, analyzes data; develops reports on program satisfaction and effectiveness. Provides excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Maintains strict confidentiality and presents a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of traditional form of government and tribal customs and traditions. Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic. Ability to operate various word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software programs Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials. Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED. Two years accounting, administrative support, or related experience. Valid drivers license is required when driving vehicles for work-related purposes. Must be able to successfully pass a background screening / investigation according to the established requirements below. Preferred Qualifications: Associates of Arts Degree in communications, business administration, finance, management, public administration, or a related field. Tribal preference in accordance with Cowlitz Indian Tribe Code and CIT Employee Policies and Procedures Handbook shall apply to all positions. All positions are required to adhere to CITs established safety policies regarding vaccine requirements and personal protective equipment (PPE). Background Investigation Requirements: Pre-employment drug screen. Reference checks, education and employment verification. Federal, state, and/or tribal criminal history and sanction checks including fingerprint verification. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and communicate effectively. The employee occasionally is required to move throughout the facility; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and clarity of vision at long distance. Work Environment: Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level. Evening and/or weekend work may be required. Tight time constraints and multiple demands are common.
