What do we need?
We are looking for a Business Development Specialist who will be responsible for creating client pitch and proposal documents, curating and updating associated material, and managing and updating the firm's pitch and proposal pipeline. This role will also assist with competitive intelligence research and client targeting within the intellectual property legal market. We are looking for a highly organized, proactive, and results-driven candidate with a strong interest for business development in the legal sector. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships both internally and with clients. The Business Development Specialist should be local to the DC metro area or willing to relocate. This is a hybrid role that requires regular in-office presence.
How will you make an impact?
The good faith base salary range for this position is $85,000 to $105,000 per year. The actual salary rate offered to candidates within that range will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, years of relevant experience, education, and the candidate's overall qualifications for the position as assessed by the Firm.

How will you make an impact?
- Pitches and Proposals
- Drafting client pitch and proposal documents in support of business development efforts. These materials are generally PowerPoint slide decks or Word documents. They are created both proactively to introduce the firm to potential new clients, and responsively to assist Directors with credentialing the firm in line with potential client expectations in support of pitching for specific projects
- Analyzing existing materials for areas of improvement; supporting and executing plans to update materials.
- Cataloging and updating frequently used proposal responses in order to streamline the creation of new proposal documents.
- Assisting in responding to larger scope requests for proposals, including scheduling and running meetings, capturing and reporting actions, writing responses to questions, and project managing the overall response.
- CRM Platform Management (Hubspot)
- Tracking pitch and proposal opportunities and reporting on opportunity pipeline.
- Identifying and implementing opportunities to use the CRM to create business value.
- Other
- Performing market research on current and potential clients.
- Maintaining and updating pitch and proposal materials to capture the latest statistics, awards, etc.
- Assisting with other business development and marketing team projects as needed.
- Performing additional duties and special assignments as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, etc.) preferred
- At least 3-5 years of experience (law firm experience a plus), including experience in pitch and proposal development
- Demonstrated high level of responsiveness and customer service
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Software proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint and Word
- Demonstrated familiarity with the services provided by an IP law firm
- Demonstrated strength in interacting and communicating with colleagues at all levels
- Ability to adapt to and work within the firm's culture
