Job Summary :

The Electrical Design Engineer will collaborate with various departments, including sales, project management, procurement, production, and quality assurance, to develop electrical designs for critical power systems. This role requires problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage projects within schedule and budget constraints. The engineer will also ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

Job Duties:

  • Develop electrical designs for critical power systems, ranging from standard to complex configurations.
  • Meet with stakeholders to establish requirements for new or existing products or electrical systems.
  • Work closely with a team of engineers and CAD designers on engineering projects.
  • Create user-friendly operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Validate testing using manual procedures, testing tools, and database queries.
  • Maintain cross-functional relationships with design engineers, quality teams, and production teams.
  • Work with the quality team to assess quality metrics and analyze product design and production times.
  • Promote a culture of electrical safety within the department and company.
  • Create prototypes, conduct testing, and analyze results.
  • Provide support throughout the manufacturing process to ensure design specifications are met.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot issues that arise during manufacturing and recommend solutions.
  • Deliver project-related documentation, including Bill of Materials (BOMs), production drawings, test plans, and operation manuals.
  • Manage change control and ensure smooth project execution.
  • Travel and availability beyond normal business hours may be required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 4 to 14 years of electrical design experience, preferably in critical power distribution and switchgear.
  • Knowledge of UL 891 Switchboards, UL 1558 Metal-Enclosed Low-Voltage Power Circuit Breaker Switchgear, UL 67 Panelboards, UL 857 Busway, UL 1008 Transfer Switch Equipment, and UL 62368/60950 Information Technology Equipment is preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical system diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems based on engineering documentation.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and MS Office applications.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and multitasking ability.
