POSITION SUMMARY:

The Systems Engineer - Senior is responsible for serving as an advanced-level technical expert. This position will participate in or oversee a variety of analytical and technical assignments that provide for problem diagnosis, solutions documentation, implementation, administration, support, and maintenance of a variety of hardware, software, and network products in an information technology infrastructure environment. This position will apply technical analysis, design and implementation skills to ensure alignment of Citizens' corporate systems with Citizens' Enterprise Architecture and industry best practices. A primary objective of this position is to ensure the commonality of technical components and approaches across production systems. This position will work closely with Citizens Application Development team leads, Operations management, Release Managers, Infrastructure Engineering and Enterprise Architecture.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL, BASIC AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION. THESE FUNCTIONS ARE NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF ALL RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES, AND SKILLS REQUIRED. Accountable for the availability, reliability, serviceability of Citizens' infrastructure hardware and software. Collaborate with engineers or software developers to select appropriate design solutions or ensure the compatibility of system components. Facilitate and lead design review prior to implementation of solutions within the established Enterprise Architecture framework and guidelines and industry best practices. Ensure solutions are designed to take advantage of the existing assets, integrate them into the existing environment, follow the enterprise architecture, and solve the business problems of the business owner or unit. Serve as primary liaison between senior leadership and Enterprise Architecture team on strategic direction and also provide input to the Enterprise Architecture team regarding standards and framework enhancements. Interface with Business Analysts to understand and apply business processes to current technology. Review the solution architecture blue prints in collaboration with team members. Effectively communicate the architecture to affected staff members. Guide and lead the technical teams to resolve complex technical issues as they arise. Provide architectural assurance throughout the development life cycle and guards the architectural integrity of Citizens' Production systems. Responsible for architecture and technical design documentation for production systems and related integrations with dependent subsystems. May coach, counsel or train less-experienced staff, may also direct the work of others, may provide input in the performance management, goal setting and review processes. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Advanced knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. Advanced understanding of scalability and performance considerations for the technical design and deployment of business applications to support significant peak volume of activity. Advanced understanding of security concerns and considerations for the technical design and deployment of business applications. Ability to organize technical material, analyze a wide variety of technical facts and develop appropriate recommendations. Ability to provide and validate hardware/software requirements for the proposed architecture. Ability to verify stability, interoperability, portability, security, or scalability of system architecture. Ability to evaluate current or emerging technologies and consider factors such as cost, portability, compatibility, or usability. Advanced ability to document design specifications, installation instructions, and other system-related information. Ability to support both planned and unplanned events. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma | GED, Associate/Technical Degree OR 2 years relevant experience, OR a combination of both college and experience equivalent to 2 years. Bachelor's Degree OR 3 years relevant experience, OR a combination of college education and relevant experience equivalent to 3 years. (Computer Science/ Information Technology or related field). AND

7 or more years of experience administering various systems and applications. 5 years of experience working as a systems engineer in a large or medium-sized company. *Additional education may count towards work experience*

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of formal Change Management, Configuration Management and Release Management. Networking (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS) Routing, QoS Experience administering Enterprise grade Firewalls and intrusion detection systems, log management/reporting solutions. Advanced understanding of SSL and IPsec VPN technology Intermediate or Advanced knowledge of Administering Checkpoint Firewalls. Intermediate experience of administering F5 Load balancers and F5 WAF's Intermediate experience of routing protocols including OSPF, BGP, EIGRP 3yrs + of experience various Cisco networking devices, including Routers, Switches, Nexus, ACI, ISE. Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. Understanding of QoS Policies Cloud Networking in Azure/AWS Provide Network Security recommendations and best practices for Network security. Understanding of scalability and performance considerations for the technical design and deployment of business applications to support significant peak volume of activity. Cisco certifications including CCNA, CCNP, CCIE Checkpoint Certifications including CCSA, CCSE Cisco ACI Experience. Microsoft Azure Cloud experience as it relates to Networking components SCOPE/COMPLEXITY OF WORK:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Frequent: Operate, Activate, Use, Prepare, Inspect, Place, Detect, Position, Communicate, Detect, Converse with, Discern, Convey, Express oneself, Exchange information, Exposed, Work around.

Continuous: Stationary position.

Occasional: Travel, Ability to be on call and support a 24 hour/ day and 7 day/ week operations environment as needed, Requires the ability to be on call according to scheduled rotations.
