FEV North America, Inc is seeking a Technical Specialist for its Engine, Hybrid and Fuel Cell Powertrain Systems team. This Technical Specialist position is an opportunity for the right candidate to experience state-of-the-art powertrain technology and get involved in a wide range of development tasks that move application solutions from concept to production. As a Technical Specialist specializing in diagnostic strategies for conventional, hybrid and fuel cell powertrains, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring project teams in the interpretation of OBD regulations, definition of OBD boundaries, creation OBD systems as well as supporting the calibration, validation and certification of diagnostic systems. Working with highly motivated individuals from across the globe on a variety of engines, vehicles and markets, the Technical Specialist will be able to grow their scope of experience with technology used across the globe. This Technical Specialist position requires a highly motivated individual with the eagerness to learn and make a positive contribution.

Job Responsibilities:Interpretation of existing OBD and diagnostic communication regulations/standards as they apply to current development programsStay on top of proposed OBD related regulatory changes and guidance with regards to current regulationsStay on top of proposed updates to communication standards and implementation strategiesLead the implementation of diagnostic standardization requirements (i.e. scan tool communication, tracking and reporting requirements)Lead the review of diagnostic systems architecture and the creation of new architectures to comply with the applicable regulations and standardsEvaluation of OBD boundaries and interpretation of compliance of proposed OBD solutionsLead the design and implementation of new OBD strategies to reflect updated system architectures and technology packages reflective of latest emissions regulatory standardsLead the creation of OBD calibration guidelinesSupport OBD calibration, validation, and certification activitiesSupport installation and commissioning of new powertrain test setups, including conventional combustion engines, fuel cells and hybrid configurationsAnalysis of measured parameters and system performance relative to project targets and OBD robustness standardsSummarize findings, prepare reports for internal and customer reviewRequired Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related fieldExpert level understanding of diagnostic regulations CARB, EU-OBD, EPA-OBD, WWH-OBDExpert level understanding of off-board scan tool communication and CAN communication standards SAE J1939, SAE J1979, SAE J1979-2, SAE J1699, ISO14229Extensive experience in calibration and implementation of OBD strategies and/or communication strategies to meet CARB regulationsExpert level understanding of fault handling and communicationExpert in developing OBD design and architecture requirements for software developmentExperience in calibrating inhibit matrix, fault identifiers, class definition, MIL handling, fault handlingExperience in logic diagram development and concept preparationStrong fundamentals in internal combustion engine operationStrong fundamentals in exhaust aftertreatment systemsStrong knowledge in the field of automotive sensors and actuatorsFull understanding of electronic control system strategies, know-how on how the logic implementation and control system functionsFull understanding of ECU strategy calibration principlesExperience leading technical project teams and mentoring team membersProject management skills and experience interacting with customers on a project management levelSkilled in handling calibration tools such as INCA, ATI-VISION, CALDESK, CANalyzerSkilled in handling test environments such as MATLAB/SIMULINKProfessional communication skills (oral and written English)Must be a motivated team player to perform in fast paced development environmentPreferred Qualifications:
