As RubinBrown's small business group, the Entrepreneurial Services Group partners with business owners to help improve and grow their businesses. This department serves many clients utilizing a broad knowledge of business, accounting and tax issues. With over 60 years experience of serving emerging entrepreneurial enterprises, these clients are still a key part of RubinBrown’s business.
Major Responsibilities
Understand and apply general accounting procedures based on the range of services provided by the Entrepreneurial Services GroupPlan and execute the day-to-day activities of small business engagements for various clients in accordance with RubinBrown Client Service StandardsReview client documentation and format for use in preparation of financial statements and tax return preparationMaintain client records and files, e.g., general ledger, on automated systemsPerform attest procedures, including reviews and compilations of financial statementsAssist with income tax planning for a variety of small businesses and individualsAssist in preparation of income tax returns for corporations, partnerships and individualsIdentify and communicate accounting and tax matters to other engagement team membersPrepare payroll tax reports and filingsPrepare 1099 and W-2 formsEstablish working relationship and direct communication with clientsIdentify performance improvement opportunities to assist the departmentPreferred Experience/Background/Skills
Bachelors degree in Accounting or related degreeCPA preferred or working toward that certificationPrior public accounting experience is a plusPrior income tax preparation, including partnerships, corporations and individuals is advantageousStrong technical skills including the ability to effectively utilize technology and the commitment to learning in a technology environmentLeadership capabilitiesStrong team orientationEnergetic, enthusiastic and willingness to take initiativeAbility to meet challenging client requirements and provide quality client serviceUtilize analytical and research abilitiesProficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel required).Experience with Peachtree and/or QuickBooks is a plusExcellent interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skillsStrict adherence to professional ethicsAbility to successfully contribute to the success of a strategic business unit of the firm
