Business Analyst

to support programs in Baltimore, Maryland.

Overview We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst who can take the lead in translating the operational needs of the business into requirements for implementation as well as working with the customer and project manager to define the roadmap of the application. The Business Analyst will be responsible for defining epics, features and user stories and prioritizing the product Backlog to streamline the execution of program priorities. The Business Analyst solves application and process related problems by understanding the client’s business goals and processes, creating detailed process specifications, and recommending system modifications working with the delivery team and all client business units to create a holistic solution. Communicates business requirements for reports and applications development. Facilitates collaboration within and across business units and across IT functions. Resolves problems and improves business units’ technical environments.

Understand business processes and end user workflows, obtaining technical product knowledge and/or specific domain expertise. Documenting, as necessary.Schedule and facilitate stakeholder requirements gathering sessions, negotiating scope, and agreeing on Minimal Viable Product (MVP) when necessary.Define customer needs and the associated features to meet those needs, defining the business problem, identifying data requirements, and isolating data elements by translating business requirements into software requirements.Decompose work outlined in the high-level requirements (epics) into User Stories.Prioritize and maintain project backlog at User Story level to ensure alignment with epic priority.Partner with Project Manager to prioritize backlog and manage competing stakeholder requirements, turning to the customer POC to ensure questions/concerns are escalated quickly.Create User Stories including defining the acceptance criteria (AC), coordinating AC approval with the customer.Work with the Project Manager, customer Stakeholder, and delivery team to identify and address any cross-project dependencies and overlap.Manage requirements dependencies, negotiating and reprioritizing as appropriate.Track progress towards the release of a service request/product/handover for the customer User Acceptance Testing (UAT).Create mockups to demonstrate solutions to client stakeholders.Partner with UI designer on projects requiring additional user experience elements.Coordinate and lead the documentation of customizations, features, and diagram flows for prioritized work.Other duties as assigned.Required Education & Experience

Eight (8) years of experience as a Business Analyst or similar role.A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline three (3) years of equivalent experience in a related field.Product Owner/Scrum certification Preferred.MBA/MPA preferred.Strong understanding of web application architecture and data structures.Creating Workflow diagrams or process mapping.Working directly with stakeholders to determine improved business solutions.Writing detailed functional requirements documentation.Critical thinking, problem solving skills, and sound judgment.Understanding of technology and current trends – the what, why, when, and how.Verbal and written communication skills.Presentation skills or ability to engage audiences of various organizational levels.Understanding of leading practices in business analysis.Track record of delivering timely and accurate work product in a fast-paced environment.Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.May be required to work on-call or long hours, if necessary, in case of serious network malfunction.About BTS Software Solutions
