What You'll Do

Contract Drafting and Review:

Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including but not limited to agreements with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other business partners, ensuring that all agreements align with the company's mission and legal standards.Legal Compliance:

Stay up-to-date with applicable laws and regulations in the energy and environmental sectors to ensure that all contracts adhere to legal standards. Provide legal guidance and advice to internal teams on compliance matters.Contract Management:

Implement and manage an organized contract management system to monitor contract lifecycles, deadlines, and obligations. Ensure contract renewals and terminations are handled efficiently.Risk Assessment:

Identify and assess legal and commercial risks associated with contracts. Develop strategies to mitigate risks and provide practical recommendations to internal stakeholders.Dispute Resolution:

Handle or assist with contract disputes and negotiations, working to find resolutions that protect the company's interests while maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders.Collaboration:

Collaborate with various internal departments, including project management, finance, and regulatory affairs, to understand their contract needs and provide legal support accordingly.Legal Documentation:

Prepare and maintain legal documents, records, and reports as required for legal and regulatory compliance.What You Bring:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and admission to the New York State Bar.Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Contracts Attorney, preferably in the energy, utilities, or environmental sector.Deep experience with construction and procurement related agreements.Strong understanding of contract law, regulatory compliance, and relevant state and federal laws affecting the energy and transmission industry.Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.Detail-oriented with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and contracts simultaneously.A team player who can work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and provide clear legal guidance.Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical abilities.Commitment to environmental sustainability and clean energy goals.Experience in the utility sector and construction contracts, EPM (Engineering & Project Management), and EPC agreements (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) highly valuable but not required.Position Type:
