Assisting attorneys and other staffReviewing records and documents (searching documents for key words, terms, phrases; redacting documents electronically)Legal research and writingInterviewing clientsPerforming other duties as assigned*These positions are not under the merit system and generally includes the staffs of the governor and lieutenant governor, policy-making managers, and agency leaders. (See KRS 18A.115.) These positions have no formal selection criteria and are not appointed from a register. Employees in these positions may be terminated 'without notice of cause' without recourse. Vacancies may or may not be posted on the careers website.
EDUCATION : Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in paralegal science or a bachelor's degree with a minor in paralegal studies OR two-year program in paralegal studies OR post-baccalaureate certificate in paralegal studies OR a Juris Doctorate or a law degree from a college of law.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS : NONE
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE : NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION : Experience as a paralegal or legal secretary will substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
