Ready, Willing & Able (RWA) provides a working way home for men with long histories of incarceration, homelessness, and unemployment. At the core of this 12-month residential program is paid work-complemented by holistic social services, career and workforce development training, continuing education, and sobriety support.
Teaches one 5-week Computer Skills Class
Conducts outreach for the Computer Skills Class, informs staff and trainees about the importance of the mandatory nature of the classLiaises with other departments regarding trainee needs and progressMaintains student/participant case notes in the database, records program data, and other statistical records.Updates curricula as needed or requestedFacilitates one on one tutoring sessions as neededFacilitates the transition to Online Computer Skills Class for qualifying trainees. Monitors student progress as they move though the course independently
High School Equivalency Prep Instructor
Teaches the science, social studies, reading, and writing sections of the HSE Prep ClassProvides back-up and support for HSE Math InstructorCoordinates class rosters with various departmentsPlaces MetroCard and late night pass requests for classes as neededMaintains student/participant case notes in the database, records program data, and other statistical records as needed, including, but not limited to:
Daily and weekly attendance trackingClass statusCourse evaluation notes
Conducts individual tutoring sessions as needed for low literacy, vocational training, pre-ABE, or HSETailors content for each individual lesson for each trainee for each sessionClears participants for training and enrolls into targeted training upon session completionClears and enrolls participants in higher level courses; either ABE or HSE ClassMaintains student/participant case notes in the database, records program data, and other statistical records as needed, including, but not limited to:
Daily and weekly attendance trackingClass statusMonthly evaluation notes
HSE Test Coordinator/Liaison
Creates and maintains relationships with HSE testing sitesStays current on HSE standards and test changes
Follows up with trainees post-test, helps trainees check their scoresAdministrative
Provides career, vocational, and educational counseling by determining trainees' educational and professional qualifications and transferable skills by completing Education and Training intakes with traineesActs as Education & Training Department resource for clients and staff members alikeAssists in lesson development as neededFacilitates monthly Education and Training orientations as neededAttends departmental and facility meetingsPerforms other duties related to the goals of the Education and Training Team as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:
Commitment to The Doe Fund's mission, purpose, and valuesBachelor's degree requiredMust be able to teach 3-4 evenings per week from 6-9 PMMust be willing to travel to all residential facilities (Bushwick, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Harlem)Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching adults in non-traditional settings or workforce development related workExceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously, set priorities and meet demanding deadlines within a fast-paced environmentExcellent written, verbal and presentation skills and the proven ability to synthesize and accurately present relevant information requiredExcellent analytical and interpersonal skillsCommitment to The Doe Fund's mission, purpose, and values"Out of the box" thinking is crucialAbility to adapt to and work effectively within a variety of situations and with various individuals and groupsHigh energy level and enthusiasm for the positionMust have the ability to work both independently and in a team settingMust possess and exhibit a level of confidence in themselves and their work, but be able to take direction and criticism professionallyAbility to achieve results and complete assignments in a timely manner utilizing Google platforms and Microsoft Office programs
