Functions and Responsibilities
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Dean of Information Technology / Chief Information Officer or designee, the Network Administrator is responsible for the design, repair, training and response to inquiries relating to the operations of the College's network system.
Supervisory Role
Oral and written instructions are received from the Dean of Information Technology / Chief Information Officer or designee. The Network Engineer may supervise support staff and student workers.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Design and install communication services and support software applications including voice mail, video conferencing, email and remote access.
2. Backup/Restore and Disaster Recovery design, administration and implementation.
3. Troubleshoot network related issues and provide solutions to increase network performance and reliability.
4. Respond promptly to problems or questions regarding network and systems hardware.
5. Provide written instructions for users of hardware and software.
6. Evaluate and test new hardware and networking technologies for future implementation.
7. Provide third level technical assistance and support to system users.
8. Provide detailed documentation and drawings of network infrastructure.
9. Assist and directly communicate with network vendors and integrators concerning new and existing network projects for the college.
10. Maintain and monitor security of external data communications.
11. Maintain strict confidentiality and security of staff and student records.
12. Prepare routine, special and ancillary reports as required.
13.
Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities
1. Bachelor's Degree.
2. Demonstrated experience in the design and installation of communication services and supporting software applications.
3. Knowledge of networking concepts including bridges, routers, and local and wide area networking protocols.
4. Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work activities.
5. Skill in analytical problem solving.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
8. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
Education RequirementsBachelor's Degree
Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver's license, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related area.
2. Demonstrated ability to provide service training in seminars or workshops.
3. Attend and participate in professional training, seminars or workshops.
4. Certified Network Engineer.
