SUMMARY

The Applications Engineer will actively collaborate with both Sales and Technical teams to promote the full range of Bergstrom products. This position will be responsible for engaging with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) regarding system design, providing support during various stages of the development process, offering training, and troubleshooting products as needed. A key aspect of this role is to possess a thorough understanding of customer requirements that will allow the Applications Engineer the ability to recommend the most appropriate products or solutions for specific applications as well as customer requests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Works closely with various internal and customer engineering teams to develop appropriate solutions, participating in pre-sales meetings to quantify customer requirements.

Evaluates inquiries and specifications to create formal proposals for the Sales team.

Acts as a technical resource to both customers and the Sales team, assisting in problem-solving challenges.

Delivers application-focused educational content and training to internal staff and OEM’s.

Conducts de-brief sessions with field service, technical support, and project engineering teams to ensure ongoing support for application solutions.

Contributes to the development and enhancement of tools and processes used in designing and integrating new heat exchange components within refrigeration product lines.

Performs and documents engineering analysis necessary for designing, verifying performance, and ensuring reliability of refrigeration components and products.

Works across functional lines, collaborating with development, production, design, marketing, and suppliers.

Stays informed about industry trends and changes in vapor compression and industrial refrigeration.

OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Fundamental knowledge of vapor compression HVAC and refrigeration technologies and components using various high, medium, and low-pressure refrigerants.

Proficiency in applying computer simulation tools and theory to HVAC or refrigeration system design.

Knowledge of components in HVAC or refrigeration systems, such as coils, compressors, motors, and fans.

Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Strong communication and analytical skills

Capability to manage complex projects and multitask effectively.

Familiarity with reliability engineering tools

Willingness and flexibility to travel to Internationally as needed.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering

3+ years of experience in air handling, HVAC, or refrigeration design

Understanding of basic electricity and electrical control systems

Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.

Fluent in English and Mandarin preferred.
