The Physician educates patients on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and families.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Direct the care of critically ill patients in the Intensive Care UnitMonitor and maintain pulmonary support for patients, including use and calibration of ventilators and life support systemsFormulate treatment plans, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, and therapeutic measuresDevelop post-discharge care in accordance with written practice protocolsOrder appropriate laboratory tests according to practice guidelinesProvide supervision of medical services and ensure appropriateness, quality, and safety of patient care within the scope of the division.Develop, implement, and evaluate an appropriate patient plan of careAssess severity of patient's condition, determining and directing patients to appropriate medical plan and assessmentActively participate in quality assurance programs and peer review activitiesDetermine required referrals based on level of urgency, and patient needsExercises final medial judgment in all issues of healthcareReviews on a regular basis long term cases that require ongoing medical attentionConsults with Medical Director and other professional on staff as needed regarding patient care programs established by the hospital or clinicOversee assigned allied health professional medical staff and nursing clinicalAssist in the resolution of complaints, request and inquiries from patientsDevelop priorities for growth of clinical programs to meet patient needsEnhance quality of care and implement innovations in careSupplement departmental and research effortsMaintain confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulationsDocument all services in patient medical records for compliance and regulatory adherencePerform other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniquesThorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatmentsEffective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquettePerforms in tactful and professional manner.Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):Physician with MD or DO DegreeBoard Certified with Medical LicenseBoard Eligible with Medical LicenseAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS)Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):0 – 1 Years of Experience (minimum)1+ Years of Experience (preferred)The University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission and more.UHealth-University of Miami Health System, South Florida's only university-based health system, provides leading-edge patient care powered by the ground breaking research and medical education at the Miller School of Medicine.
