SummaryThe Mass General Brigham Strategy and Business Development departments focus on strategic planning, transformation, partnerships, new business creation and business development initiatives across the entire Mass General Brigham healthcare system. This high impact, high visibility role works closely with department, hospital and system leadership on projects that will frequently be presented to the board of directors. In addition to leading analysis and planning around new business strategies and leading analysis and development of new clinical businesses, this role will work closely with broad multi-functional teams on supporting the implementation. These cross-system projects require strong project management, relationship (internal and external) management and analytical skills. This opportunity is action oriented and is a blend of both internal planning and analysis along with externally focused activities. It will be important for the person in this role be able to accomplish tasks through and with others, including peers, various hospital and MGB leaders, and external collaborators.Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupervise others performing background research, analytics, and business planning around new strategies, business opportunities, and partnerships, including regional, national, and international opportunities.Lead all elements of the analysis involved in the development and updating of the Mass General Brigham system-wide strategy and the MGB system growth strategy.Qualitative and quantitative research of strategic opportunities (external partnerships, greenfield expansion, new products/services). Research could include identifying and prioritizing strategic threats, insights, and opportunities within the healthcare market.Coordinate with digital leaders to understand market threats, insights and opportunities from a digital perspective.Perform complex business analysis, including financial, operational, and human capital analysis, around new strategies, clinical businesses and opportunities, and partnerships, and form the analysis into practical recommendations and plans.Lead the development of business cases and financial models, engaging and aligning related business leaders throughout the process.At times lead, and other times help a new business owner to lead, the setting up, launch and initial management of a new businesses, including but not limited to building governance, org design, program management ownership, and financial structure.Lead due diligence and deal negotiations on potential new clinical business opportunities and partnerships.Lead projects (e.g. new service lines, new businesses, new product), planning and decision making (e.g. investment trade-offs/prioritization, organizational design, customer targeting, etc.), working with broad sets of leaders across the organization to advise on and help implement strategic plans and new business opportunities.Develop and champion relationships and collaboration with leaders and customers across the system, and with external partners and organizations, in order to be identified as a key strategic partner and further advance strategies, partnerships and new clinical business opportunities.Select and lead external consultants as needed to pursue new strategies, new clinical business opportunities and partnerships.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsMaster’s in business administration, or related degree, with 2-3 years’ post-MBA experience preferably in consulting, corporate strategy, investment banking, or corporate development; or bachelor’s degree with 6-8 total years of experience in consulting, corporate strategy, investment banking, or corporate development.Prior healthcare experience a plus.Skills, Abilities and CompetenciesStrong understanding of operational and human capital considerations in business plan development and execution.Strong financial skills, proficiency in financial modeling, valuation, and broad quantitative analyses and familiarity with both accounting and operating metrics.Able to build positive relationships with and effect alignment around constituents.Strong project management and organizational skills.Excellent presentation skills, oral and written communication skills.Dedication to quality service and attention to detail.Ability to handle projects with multiple workstreams and lead sophisticated cross-enterprise projects with multiple partners at both senior and junior levels.Ability to multitask and prioritize project requests simultaneously.Shown ability to harmonize with others in a positive and responsive manner to build consensus through negotiation and tact.Ability to provide direction to team members, other staff and consultants.Able to handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.Flexible and adaptable within a fast-paced, sophisticated, multi-site environment with changing requirements.Ability to Lead Project Teams.Working ConditionsPossible local travel to Mass General Brigham sites.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear; use hands to finger; handle; or feel; reach with hands and arms.
