No matter where you want to go in your career, you can get there from here Position Title Computer Solutions Technician III FLSA Non-Exempt FT/PT Full Time Hours Per Week 37.5 Work Schedule M-F 8:30-5 Grade 11 Minimum Compensation $48,555 General Responsibilities Desktop is defined as all staff computers, telephones, printers, laptops, tablets, cell phones, and other peripheral equipment. Image and install new desktop hardware and software. Diagnose and correct desktop problems in faculty and staff areas. Repair equipment and resolve any and all desktop software problems. Maintain network connectivity for all staff desktop equipment. Create and update desktop images as needed. Assist as necessary the UNS Network and Server Groups. Assist both the UNS/Network Group and UNS/Server Group as needed. Act as the on campus subject matter expert for the college's telecommunications equipment and services. Assist with the technical aspect for EOP functions. Work Performed Support faculty and staff in the use of desktop equipment and software including virus removal. Support faculty, staff and students with mobile device wireless configurations and cellphone activation/setup. Perform diagnostics on desktop equipment and software. Coordinate repair or replacement of desktop equipment and software. Maintain parts, equipment and software inventory. Install and test desktop equipment and software. Maintain the college's public address system. Assist with the EOP college wide notification systems. Deploy system images using Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) and Windows Deployment Services (WDS). Deploy software, system preferences and printers using Group Policy. Manage administrator right escalation using DefendPoint Privilege Management. Install and test telephone and data cabling and jacks throughout the campus. Evaluate desktop equipment to determine hardware and software compatibility. Diagnose and assist in resolving network connectivity problems throughout the college campus. Perform advanced phone system installations and upgraded for both software and hardware. Perform all account moves, adds and changes to the college's phone and voicemail system. Troubleshoot all advanced phone system issues including hardware and LAN/WAN/MAN links. Provision, deploy and troubleshoot optical network terminals (ONTs) in GPON-enabled buildings. Maintain various record databases, including but not limited to: desktop equipment, phones (E911) and printers. Manipulate Active Directory environment for account management, computer locations/inventory, permissions and role-based deployments. Utilize the Identity Management services for staff and faculty password resets. Maintain Desktop Support Group (DSG) application, print, imaging, DHCP, WSUS, servers (physical and virtual) and associated storage devices, including equipment and software installation, upgrades and patching. Manage staff print services. Create and maintain staff desktop, laptop and tablet images, develop scripts to automate installs and task sequences. Assign/reserve IP addresses and ranges, maintain MAC address filter. Approve security updates, revoke problematic patches and integrate third-party software patching. Manage adjunct and shared workspaces using Faronics Deep Freeze for security. Maintain and deploy anti-malware software on desktops and mobile devices. Manage Tripwire servers for Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance - perform health checks, review changes, backup databases as needed. Image and deploy PCI desktops and laptops, document procedures and changes, review and implement security requirements. Develop materials and provide individual and group technology training for staff and faculty as needed. Supervise when the Computer Solutions Manager is unavailable and train part-time interns and volunteers. Evaluate and provide hardware and software recommendations for campus deployment. Account for all core work in the current call tracking database, including documented status and resolution information, while tracking time worked. Document and maintain processes and procedures on the shared network drive. Provide status reports to management. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Education Required Associate's degree Minimum Number of Years Experience Required 2 Other Knowledge Required Associates Degree in CS or related program and two years of experience in technical computer field required or an approved combination of education, training and experience with 4 years of directly related work experience with computer administration. Thorough functional knowledge of current Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems and Microsoft application suites Thorough functional knowledge with imaging programs. Thorough functional knowledge with automated deployment tools of MS software/OS. Thorough functional knowledge of current desktop equipment hardware. Working knowledge of Power Shell and/or Visual Basic for scripting. Working knowledge of virtual environments. Thorough knowledge of Ethernet networking protocols. Working knowledge of Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol Working knowledge of domain naming systems. Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory A Certified and Network required or obtained within the first year of employment. Working knowledge of hand tools and electrical safety procedures. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Regular attendance is a requirement of this job. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Performs all duties while considering the impact of any actions on the college's sustainability initiatives in the areas of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperity. Working Conditions Lifting desktop equipment up to 75-lbs. transporting desktop equipment up to 200 lbs. on carts. Moving furniture to access desktop equipment. Work areas sometimes include close quarters such as closets, ceilings and crawl spaces Weekend on-call status when needed. Approximately once every two months. Exposure to electromagnetic radiation, ozone and laser light. May be exposure to high voltage electricity and high temperature components as well as soldering tools. Occasional overtime required. Hours as assigned, including the possibility of evening or weekend coverage. May occasionally travel to other HCC campus sites. Supervisory Postion?
