Cath Lab Director, Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine

The University of Miami Health System, Miller School of Medicine is initiating a search for a Cath Lab Director, Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine.

 Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the cardiac catheterization laboratory and interventional cardiology section 
  • Develop and implement clinical protocols and quality control standards to ensure patient safety and optimize patient outcomes 
  • Provide patient-centered care and perform complex cardiovascular interventions, including angioplasty, stenting, and other procedures 
  • Evaluate and manage patients with complex cardiovascular diseases in both inpatient and outpatient settings 
  • Interventional procedures in Cath Lab 
  • STEMI call 
  • In-patient CCU service Determines which referrals are required based on examination and patients’ needs 
  • Determines level of urgency of follow-up, referral/consultation appointments 
  • Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients 
  • Orders studies, test and ancillary services in patient medical records 
  • Documents all services in patient medical records 
  • Reviews on a regular basis long-term cases that require ongoing medical attention 
  • Consults with leadership and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care programs established by the hospital or clinic requirements 
  • Assists in the resolution of complaints, requests, and inquiries from patients 
  • Works collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiac anesthesiologists, and other specialists, to provide comprehensive care to patients 
  • Fosters an environment of continuous learning and improvement by participating in and leading educational initiatives, such as grand rounds, journal clubs, and research projects 
  • Serves as a mentor and role model to junior colleagues, residents, and medical students, providing guidance and support to foster their professional growth and development 
  • Acts as a liaison between the cardiology department and other clinical departments and hospital leadership to improve communication, collaboration, and patient outcomes 
  • Participates in administrative and committee responsibilities as assigned by the Chief of Cardiology. 
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient information and adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures 
  • Performs other duties as assigned 

Desired Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution 
  • Board certification in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular Disease 
  • Current Florida medical license
  • DEA registration 
  • At least five years of clinical experience as an Interventional Cardiologist 
  • Demonstrated excellence in leadership, education, and academic pursuits, including research, teaching, and quality improvement 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, families, colleagues, and hospital leadership. 
  • Performs in tactful and professional manner, superior patient engagement skills
