Client Information:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Division of HIV Prevention (DHP) focus on high impact prevention of HIV—by preventing new HIV infections, improving health outcomes for persons with HIV, and reducing HIV related disparities and health inequities.
DHP develops and maintains a variety of data and information systems to support its mission, including systems to collect, transmit, store, and analyze data for HIV/AIDS surveillance, epidemiology, and program monitoring and evaluation. We are looking for IT and public health partners including statisticians, researchers, behavioral scientists, computer scientists, public health advisors/analysts, budget analysts, and other program staff.
Responsibilities:
Design and construct high-performing database architectures, data warehouses, and large-scale processing systems to support the CDC's DHAP IT projects.
Ensure the security, integrity, and seamless integration of data across multiple platforms and systems.
Define data standards, policies, and procedures for the management and maintenance of data.
Lead the assessment and implementation of new data technologies and data-driven strategies to improve system performance and user outcomes.
Collaborate with IT teams and business units to translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design.
Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in data architecture, database design, or data engineering.
Extensive experience with modern database and repository technologies, including SQL and NoSQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra.
Proven ability to design and implement effective data models, data access, and data storage solutions for complex IT health systems.
Experience in developing and maintaining large-scale data warehouses, data lakes, and business intelligence platforms.
Preferred:
Experience working with healthcare data, especially in public health or government settings.
Background in managing large-scale migration projects from legacy systems to modern environments.
Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP).
Any relevant database certification (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, AWS Certified Big Data, or Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer).
