Description:

The Oracle SQL/PL Data Warehouse Engineer will be involved in the development of management and regulatory reporting functionality in the areas of risk and compliance within a banking environment. This role will specifically contribute to the design and development of the Corporate Risk Data Warehouse using Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, data warehouse/ETL tools, and Unix scripts. The engineer will collaborate closely with various projects, including Operational Risk Reporting and Credit Risk applications, throughout the full project lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

Strong SQL and Data Warehouse Concepts:

Write complex SQL queries to analyze and profile datasets, identifying patterns and recommending solutions based on data analysis.Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to quickly identify design-related concerns.

Provide Data Requirements:

Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and Business Partners to gather data requirements.Independently understand existing data models and ETL processes, providing data flow diagrams, table structures, and ETL specifications.Identify ETL dependencies and orchestrate a sequence of data loads in the ETL pipeline.Communicate data requirements and design concerns effectively, negotiating with developers and architects to solution data needs.

Validate Data Accuracy and Integrity:

Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and quality of developed data.

Support Defects Triage:

Participate in the System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) defects triage, assisting in setting up a defect resolution path.Assess defects for impacts and priorities.

Guide Production Support:

Provide guidance to the production support team on unforeseen issues and ETL abends.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.8+ years of experience in Software Engineering & Systems Architecture.Proficiency in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and Unix scripting.Experience working in a data warehouse environment, writing complex SQL queries, and analyzing datasets.Strong understanding of data requirements gathering, data modeling, and ETL processes.Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.Ability to interact effectively with senior-level business teams.Experience in the banking or financial services industry is preferred.This position offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects within the banking sector and contribute to the development of risk and compliance reporting solutions.
