The Sr. Inventory & Operations Accountant assumes responsibility for facilitating initiatives aimed at overseeing operating expenses, managing inventory transactions, and advancing the objectives of the Supply Chain Finance Department. Reporting directly to the Manager of Inventory Accounting, this role is situated in Emeryville, CA. It encompasses a balanced workload comprising approximately 50% task-oriented activities and 50% project-driven engagements.
The optimal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in evaluating and refining processes, scrutinizing departmental and business metrics, proposing and executing enhancement projects, and accommodating ad hoc demands to foster sustainable business expansion. Responsibilities
Monitor and reconcile inventory across 600+ warehouse locations, ensuring alignment between systems.Generate and maintain periodic Inventory Reports, distributing them to diverse stakeholders, including Direct Store Delivery (DSD) Field Management.Collaborate closely with DSD Ops and DSD Field Management to identify and address inventory-related challenges promptly.Partner with IT and DSD Ops to identify and rectify systems integration errors, fostering seamless operational processes.Collaborate with IT and DSD Ops to standardize reporting packages, enhancing consistency and efficiency.Conduct thorough reviews and analysis of inventory movements, promptly reporting unusual or excessive variances to management.Oversee and track the field inventory certification program, ensuring adherence to compliance standards in collaboration with DSD Field Management.Collaborate with Senior Management and CPG Finance to offer insights into cost of goods and inventory activity, including the preparation of monthly reports and analyses.Engage in cross-training with the Inventory Accountant of Retail Operations, facilitating comprehensive task coverage.Provide detailed analysis of other DSD operations expenses, identifying avenues for cost-saving opportunities.Prepare journal entries for various inventory and Supply Chain Finance activities during month-end close processes.Actively participate as a key member of cross-functional teams dedicated to identifying technical challenges and efficiency opportunities, tracking resolution progress, and implementing preventive measures as required.Work closely with project teams to ensure the accuracy of system implementations, integrations, and upgrades, particularly concerning DSD inventory operations.Assist in conducting periodic audits to uphold accuracy and compliance standards.Qualifications
Possess 4-6 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles, demonstrating a strong foundation in financial principles and practices.Preferably, hold 2-3 years of direct experience in inventory management roles, showcasing a specialized understanding of inventory control processes.Proficient in navigating multiple systems to retrieve and analyze information efficiently, reflecting adeptness in utilizing diverse technological platforms.Possess advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex functions and data analysis techniques, to facilitate accurate reporting and decision-making.Exhibit robust analytical and organizational capabilities, adept at dissecting complex data sets and organizing information systematically.Demonstrate exceptional prioritization skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and assignments concurrently, while ensuring timely completion.Thrive in high-pressure environments, adept at working under tight deadlines without compromising quality or accuracy.Display excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear and effective exchange of information across various stakeholders.Collaborative mindset, capable of effectively working within a communicative team environment to achieve shared objectives.Skilled in fostering cross-functional collaboration, with a proven ability to collaborate with other departments to accomplish organizational goals.Preferably possess experience in the Consumer Products industry and DSD, showcasing familiarity with industry-specific practices and challenges.Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics is a plus, demonstrating proficiency in utilizing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to streamline operations.At Peet’s we hire the best people and are committed to supporting our employees and rewarding them for their work. $90,000 - 115,000 annually .
