Overall Function
As a Data Science and Analytics Intern, you will be an integral part of our data team, contributing to the analysis and interpretation of large datasets to derive meaningful insights. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will have the chance to apply your theoretical knowledge to practical situations, enhancing your skills in data manipulation, statistical analysis, and data visualization.
Responsibilities
Data Cleaning and Preprocessing:Clean and preprocess raw data to ensure its accuracy, completeness, and relevance.Collaborate with team members to understand data requirements and specifications.Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA):Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover patterns, trends, and anomalies in the data.Generate descriptive statistics and visualizations to communicate findings.Model Development:Assist in the development of predictive models using machine learning algorithms.Participate in model evaluation and optimization processes.Data Visualization:Create visually compelling and informative dashboards and reports to communicate insights to stakeholders.Utilize tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar for effective data presentation.Collaboration and Documentation:Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business objectives and align analytics efforts.Document methodologies, findings, and recommendations for internal knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, analytical, and qualitative skills.Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.Currently pursuing a degree or career in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.Solid understanding of statistical concepts and data analysis techniques.Proficiency in programming languages, such as Python.Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).Experience with Jira or DevOps.
The internship will report based in Peet’s Home Office in Emeryville, CA and requires employees to work onsite 3-days per week. The internship is paid at $20/hr and will require a ~40 hours/week commitment from June 3rd - August 30th, 2024.
